ToasticlesAe82 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 so theres this missing pipe that goes from the start of the air intake housing to somewhere just behind/near the throttle body... it's obviously been broken off as there are two peices left on the ends where it would normally connect to it's some sort of meshy pipe coated in aluminium or metal shielding my question is what's the purpose of this pipe and where can i get another? cheers buds p.s. it's the sohc 1.6l Quote
ae824ate Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 (edited) I'm pretty sure you are talking about the hot air vent that goes from the exhaust sheild, into just before the main air filter housing? This one: The purpose of this pipe is......Nothing much at all really! Unless you live in antarctica. Venting warm air into the intake. I'm sure someone will correct me though. Trev Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 As Luke said, it is just a hot box pipe, on cold starts the intake air is re-routed and taken from this pipe to help with cold running, once the engine gets up to temp the air flap is closed off and is taken from the intake pipe instead. Trev Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Maybe, they are always stuffed especially when you remove them so just buy a new universal one from an auto parts store, the one I might have here still is an aftermarket one. Quote
Thirteen13 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 could u just measure the size of the pipe and go buy a new bit of hose from bunnings or supercheap ? Quote
