Ok guys just want some info I have 2 ke30's

 

1) 2door 3k k40 out of ke30 jap diff

 

2) 4door 3k k40 out of a ke70 borgy diff

 

I have a k50 out of a ke55 and want to put the borgy diff in The 2door will the tail shaft fit the 55 5 speed or will I have to change the yoke from the jap diff to the borgy tail shaft or is there no difference between the out put shafts on the gearboxes

the gearbox end of the tailshaft shoud be common to all gearboxes. From memory, Jap and Borgy's have different diff flanges, so you will have to look out for that. But try out the tailshafts you have, you may be lucky.

The flanges that bolt to the diffs are different i know that I'm just not sure about the gearbox end because the ke70 k40 has the longer extention housing with the shifter further back I was just wondering if that has any affect because the 4 door is in pieces at home and I don't want to take the 2door to work and have it stuck on a hoist in case the tail shaft doesnt fit the k50

how you find out what diff you got ? is there a name casted into the housing or something ??

For Borg Warner diffs the diff center unbolts from the back with probably about 8 or more bolts.

 

Jap diffs unbolt from the front with about 8 bolts.

i changed my ke30 jap diff to a ke70 borg wagon diff unis and rear flanges are different borg diff uses vb vh etc unis

the way i got around it was i found a ke55 tail shaft at a wreckers and it fits straight in were the shaft goes into the gear box are the same spline

i also use a ke 70 5speed instead of a ke30 4speed there the same length just had to modify were my shift came through the floor
