Hillynath Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Hey guys. I have done some searching around on Google and on here and haven't come up with much. Now before you say "Get a screwdriver, or dental floss and some special spray" I'm actually trying to find a safe way to remove the badge without damaging it or the paint. As I want to restore the old badges back to new and fit them back onto the boot. I have had a bit of a look at it this afternoon and they are glued on but also I can feel on the inside of the boot lid where they join through the boot. Before having a go at it myself I'd like to get a few opinions and idea's on what might be the best way to go about this. As said, I don't want to damage the badges. Thanks Nathan Quote

BlueKsev Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 I just used a stanley knife blade or something like that man, its perfectly safe just lever them up so you don't bend them simple as that :) There are little round tabs that stick into holes in the boot lid and they popped straight out easy on mine when i did it. BlueKsev Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Theres no safer way you could get around it i don't think, best thing you can do is heat it up to soften the glue use something thin, and you would be protecting your paint too so maybe a ruler instead of a blade and then just take it slowly! So the little "Round tab" that is inserted into the hole in the boot just pops out under pressure? It doesn't just go crack and take half the badge with it is my worry. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 I'm pretty sure if the badge cracks there will be a hundred or so floating around on this site that someone will give to you for free. Quote

I'm sure there is. However It's more of a hassle than asking for some tip's from people who have most likely done the same thing at some point. Quote

If you get whatever it is your levering it off with right up next to the tab, then pul/twist it to push the badge away from the body, it comes out easy. It will only crack and snap if you bend the badge so thats the main thing to watch Quote
