hey guys, well last night while i was out partying in the dark dad decided to go get some maccas, goin there the road under the bridge was flooded, but this usually isnt very deep, so through he goes, and half way across he says it stopped. long story short i asked him how high the water was and he says, ooh lapping up around the bonnet...."did you think of that cold air intake dad?" :) so this mornin he went down took the plugs out and turned her over pissing water all out of it, but she still wont start

were assuming its left over water in the cylinders and intake wetting the spark so she wont start....

how do we fix this problem?

how do we get her started again?

maybe leave the sparklers out for a couple of days and let the rest of the lectrical thingys dry out, beware though there will most probly be many bits of water in the oil :) I can forsee an oil change :S

why would their be water in the oil?

u don't get air in your oil when that goes into the cylinders :)

because air, being a gas can escape easier... will need to change the oil...

i don't wanna leave it sittin to long, rust in cylinders probably isnt good :)

spin it up heaps without the plugs installed - water will spit everywhere.

 

then drop a teaspoon of meths down each cylinder (through the sparkplug hole) before you plop the plugs back in ... it will combine nicely with the water to assist the drying out.

 

once copped a cylinder full of water in the bike through the exhaust (handy hint #3: keep your eye on the toddler with the hose if you don't want this to happen again :)) - meths was the last step ...

 

unfortunately, you will have sucked water in through the carby ... so your intake is also full of watery goodness - like they say, CRC or equivalent everywhere - you may also want to try some "start ya bastard" or "aerostart" to assist ...

hehe cheers guys, i got her goin :)

took the bendy piped intake manifold off and tipped most of the water out, put it back on, spun it over some more, plugs in spin it over, yell swear curse, and up she goes yay!!!

bit of steam comin out, but it didnt go through the carb...coz there is none, so thats pretty good

i told him the only reason it happened it coz it was a shitty ford

oh well, the falcon is good for towing home all the corollas that arnt running, then again my 1ggte ke70 will be good for that aswell i think :rocknroll:

He probably wanted to try and get to the other side, rather than stop in the middle of a massive water puddle, and open his door and fill his car with water, but his plan didn't work

wellll, he got worried as it came up aroundt he bonnet and thought, hmm this is deeper than expected, then it stopped.

it actually wasnt all that deep, like he opened his door and got out and it didnt come in his door, its just the shape of the falcon, it made the water roll up, not around or thru the grill etc

plus he wanted maccas :rocknroll:

i mean if you drive into a really big puddle and you look out the window, which is actually pretty easy now with todays tech advances :rocknroll: and you see the water gettin pretty high then you would back it up wouldnt ya?

 

unless he hit the puddle hard cause it was flowing at a fair pace and thought it might wash it sideways. :y: thats generally not a good thing. :P
