Damon550 Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 (edited) so i put 1nzfe c.o.p's on my bigport 4age gave them power and earth and trigger from the Haltech sprint 500 ecu set the ecu to direct fire for some reason the coils don't fire all nice like they should they fire when the ecu switches on some strange thing that haltech does generally it makes the car backfire with the excess fuel from cranking before hand then when its cranking it only fires ever now and then when i turn the key off it coffs and splutters like it wants to go i have double checked all my wiring and dwell I'm running out of ideas could anyone shed some light on my problem? Damon550 Posted March 18, 2012 Author Report Posted March 18, 2012 i wired it up in wasted spark and it sounds happier. then while in wasted spark i set it to direct fire and it nearly ran. haltech says wire igntion 1 up with cylinder 1 so on and so forth I'm getting a strange suspicion that is needs to be wired up in firing order Quote
Damon550 Posted March 18, 2012 Author Report Posted March 18, 2012 got it running direct fire but the firing order is 3 1 4 2 looks like the dizzy wheels are 90 degrees different the mark on the 24 tooth wheel is pointing at the sensor when dizzy is pointed at number 3 i added a photo to try and explain is this normal? MYSTIK[RL] Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 (edited) firing order should be 1 3 4 2. is the 24 tooth wheel in good condition ie all the teeth proper length, none chewed away? we had the similar sort of problem with the CAS of my gze, only the the firing order was out by 60 degrees due to a couple of the teeth being chewed away. so the ecu was only reading 22 of the 24 teeth. also using a PS500 from haltech. there is a diagnostic tool on the haltech, which might shed some light on your problem, i do believe it is in one of the drop down menus. Damon550 Posted March 19, 2012 Author Report Posted March 19, 2012 (edited) i may have it sorted the forums recommended about 70 degrees trigger angle and 5 tooth offset this worked fine with the dizzy the 5 tooth offset makes it fire on the next cylinder so i set it to 0 and that brought it back to cylinder 1 then used a timing light and to find out what trigger angle i needed to get it back to 10 degrees advance which ended up being about 47 degrees i hope i don't pop anything with these settings see how it goes tomorrow but all sounds happy anyone know what settings i should be running?
