KE7T Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 HI ALL my ke70 body is being dipped at the moment then treated to hopefully prevent future rust occuring just wanted to ask your oppinion on seam welding or double spot welding a road going 20 valve ke70 . had planned on fitting a strut bar and for the rear end i did not want any bars inside of the boot but ive read elsewhere that by fitting a towbar it really stiffens up the rear end ? also whats your thoughts on those ultra racing under guard braces . any help will be greatly appreciated CHEERS Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 It would be worth spot welding more around the strut towers, and the engine cross member could use some as well. Id leave the crumple areas as they are. Just try and do the key places that stiffen your suspension mounting points. I think bolt in braces are a good idea in most cases. my car handles a lot better with a towbar in it. Extra weight in the rear and more protection and stiffness as well. Its beneficial. I have ground the tongue off mine so its just a bar. Quote

love ke70 Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 to actually seam weld a car renders it unroadworthy. but there are gains to be had, I'm a big fan of going all out and just welding a 6 point in... Quote
