Got ourselves another 'Rolla today, but this one is for Josh's younger brother, Joel. We scored it off a guy who had it sitting on his farm in Craigieburn.

It's a December-1974 Aussie-built KE30 2-Door Sedan in Blue. It has a 3K and 4-speed (won't start because of wiring issues), and we found out it originally had a 3K-H in it according to the firewall tag, but was swapped out for a standard 3K in it now. It is an "L" edition (as badged - not too sure what it means). It has black leather seats and cards, black carpet, black dash, and other cool bits and two spare head gaskets.

The dash-top is cracked, and it's a one-piece dash unfortunately, so we'll get that fixed soon. It also has an aftermarket FM-Stereo System with only 2 speakers at the front, which works. It has a hacked ignition-barrel, but we're going to swap it out for a spare one we have. It didn't come with keys, so we're gonna get some Solex Locks for it.

It is also missing the L/H Rear Window, as it was smashed in by the previous owner. If someone has one for sale, or can point us in the right direction of where one is for sale, it'll be appreciated.

It's a fairly neat body, with some minor rust here and there, nothing we can't fix. It will cop a respray. The paint is starting to fade, and it looks like it's been professionally resprayed a long time ago. There are also a few dents here and there, but will be easy this time around. For now, Joel's thinking of going Midnight Blue, or a Bright Yellow of some sort.

As far as the powerhouse, we don't have any plans for it yet, apart from extractors and (if we can find another one) Holley 180. Other than that, trying to get it to start would be awesome.

Overall, it's a good base, and looks to be a good project in front of us. If we can get it started after sorting out the wiring issues, we'll be rapped. :)

Anyways, here are the pics. Any comments / feedback / suggestions welcomed.

We were surprised when we saw this, and laughed.

Cheers Carlos. :y:

This one is a really good farm-find, and has plenty of potential.

We've started some Wanted/Help ads for this beast. Below are links of the threads. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

It does look like another Smurf, but Joel wanted "Joely-Rolla".

Plans at this stage, are to try and fire up the 3K, and cut out the rust and weld in new panels.

For the motor, slap Extractors and a Holley 180 onto it.

For the body, fix rust and dents, and respray in either Midnight Blue, or a Bright Yellow of some sort.

For the interior, try to keep the leather in good condition, and fix the cracked dash, and seat covers to protect the seats.

I like it a lot, can't say ive seen that shade of blue. But it appears to be same shade throughout the entire car so its got to be original. I think a yellow would look nice on this, 78 7k rolla had the midnight blue 2 door sedan if you want some more ideas.. Put those ke35 hubcaps on it with some whitewalls too.

"L" was the base model, "SE was the midrange and "CS" was the range topper for the ke30's. Good to see the badge is still fixed on the rear.

Should be good

We've thought about throwing on the hubcaps with the granny-visor for shiggles. If we like it, we'll keep the look, and add some low and maybe whitewalls. :)

We had no idea about the "L" badge, but it's good to see that someone does. After reading that, being the basic model, the "L" badge will be coming off now. :D
