Hi all,

My name is Tenny, I have a 74 ke25 delux coupe and have been a member since mid december. Thought it was finally time to start my own ride thread, after reading everyones thread and was inspired to share my project with everyone and maybe get some tips and hints along the way.

So anyway its a bit of a story on how I got the car. My father in law found this car in Sydney, over the net and had it trucked to Brissy, he then got some work done on it to get it roadworthy then gave it to my sister in law for her first car. My sister in law then moved to Perth and didnt want to pay the freight so sold it to her Mums partner who gave it to his daughter for her first car. LOL... this is where i come in.

I had been speaking to my father in law about doing up an old car. because he as done this a few times and is madly into datsun 240z 270z. He said to me why don't you see if you can give Stuart a call which is my mother in laws partner. So i did, and i said to him. By any chance are u keen to sell your lil old corolla?? and he is like, you are in luck my daughter just bought another car and wants to sell the corolla. So by some stroke of luck I got.

Drove 2.5 hrs down to pittsworth pick up my complete stock ke25 then drove her home. a 2.5 hr drive in the old girl only used 1/4 of a tank of petrol. 3k motor 4speed and 12 inch wheels.

This is what she looked like when i got her home. exterior pant is slightly faded small rust spots in the usual spots. interior dash pad cracked warped, glove box missing. underparcel shelf broken front seats need retrimming and back seat only small tear.

So plans for the car are to upgrade motor to 5k and a 5speed box. extractors exhaust tidy up of the whole car. 2 sets of wheels 1 set of nice mags and a set of stockies with white walls. lower it slighty.

Got a new dash pad from raven. Had to ask him how to take old one off and put new one on. He gave to 2 options one was to take the front windscreen off( apparently the easy way) or undo 6 bolts under the dash. pry the dash up to take old one off and push new one in(the hard way)i did this version took me 2.5hrs and alot of swearing but came up like new.

Fixed up the broken underdash parcel shelf. fixed up the bracket and gave it a non slip cover which came up quite nice. Used some bits of sheet aluminium and bits and pieces my dad had laying around. Good old hand drill, file and some tinsnips :)

So they where some of the older pics before i started doing some stuff to the outside of the car. I was wanting to upgrade the rims and brakes. so did some reading and decided to change the pcd of my wheels from 110 to 114.3. I found a jap ke30 diff drum to drum thanks Dave(noah) and used the rear axles. they needed to be shortened 5mm each side so i took them down to my father inlaws mate who is a mechanic and i used his drop saw, was supprised how fast it cut. I then scored some ke70 front hubs backing plates and 1 caliper from corolla Andy.

Took me a few days to source another caliper but i ended up going to the salibury wreckers and took one of a ke70 sitting in the yard.

My father in law got me a new rubber kit for the calipers for $50 and then showed me what to do to clean and revive them :) so cleaned the calipers put them back together with a great deal of fustration the dam rubber wouldnt sit straigh and the piston was so dam hard to push all the way in.. but got there in the end, saved myself $120 each caliper which i was qouted.

I took the front hubs down to my father in laws mates workshop and he machine the rotors and sold me some new brake pads which where holden commodore rear pads for mates rates :)

The first step we did was to take the rear axles my the ke25 then fit the new shortened ke30 axles. Put on some new RIMS i scored from Joel(pmp16) these things sit perfect the offset is just right 15inch hyperfangs

It was a week or so i was driving around with 12inch steelies on the front and 15inch rims on the back, but finally got time with my father in law(LARRY) to help me with the front pcd conversion. i asked him how long do u think it will take us??? maybe 2-3 hrs. Ok i said to him ill come at 9am so what turned out to be 3 hrs max turned into a 9am to 4:30pm finish. LOL

The front conversion was a bit of work. had to drill the strut plate and retap new holes so the backing plate would screw in, the new drill bit went blunt after 3 holes so out can the grinder to sharpen the bit.

Absolutely blown away by what you've achieved!!!

Well Done and keep up the fantastic work.

I remember doing every single job you've done over the years on my corollas, its a pretty good feeling if i remember correctly.

Thanks everyone. Its frustrating at times but when u get it done it feels like such an achievement.. but reading everyone's ride thread keeps me motivated. my biggest flaw is that I'm to impatient and want to do everything straight away.
