Hi guys,

I've been wanting to put up my rolla for a while now but haven't had the time. Now i do so here it is!!

I bought the car pretty much as it is now only less most of the interior and a butt load of wiring issues, so when i got it i had to wire up all new lights, wipers, guages, dash cluster, tacho and speedo. I also had to replace all the plastic parts of the dash as they were in a pretty bad way!! Two new front seats new tyres and a very helpful roady guy later and it now registered!!

That said i am still having a few issues with the car that you guys may be able to help me out with.

The first and most prominent issue is the idle. When i start the car it sits at 1500rpm then once at running temp it sits at 2000rpm!!!!

I have google searched the crap out of this and come up with nothing excapt the obvious vacume leaks wich i have searched relentlessly for and found none. Next would be to replace the ISCV, but where to get one from???

My other problem is it over fuels and backfire's a lot! It has a fuel pressure reg set up but no guage, i have bought a guage and will put it in, but don't know what the correct pressure should be to have it set to??? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

So here it is....

As it sits now it's pretty much a stock engine with an exhaust and a pod filter.... I relocated the battery to the boot to make way for a cold air box as the filter now is just sucking hot air straight form the exaust manifold and hating life!!!

I have a to-do list the length of my arm so i wont go into that now but first thing is to give it a good clean up, fix all the dints and a new coat of paint (get rid of the horrible black roller job on the bonnet and boot lid). Then it will be time for some more serious mods!!!!

Really all i wanted it for was the gearbox. It's the c160 speed LSD so I'm pretty excited about that!! I Spent the last 2 days stripping the car and pulling out the engine.

It has a few other bits i'm also thinking about converting over like the brakes, if they'll fit, and it has a 2.5 inch cat back exhaust that i'd like to see if i can mod to fit!

The rest of it i'm parting out including the engine so if you interested in any parts i put up an add in the vehicles wrecking classifieds.

Should have a heap more time to get things done on it over the next few weeks so i'll keep the updates coming!!

looks good mate, i have a ae101 with the 20v silvertop. best fwd ive ever driven. my question is. how hard is it to relocate the battery to the boot? like does it cost a heap? or could you do it with your more mechanically minded mates? ive been wanting to cold air induct my thing for a while

Thanks mate!! The battery relocation is fairly straight forward and costs not too much either. I got everything I needed from jaycar, cost me about $120ish the cable is the most expencive part!!!

Check out the link below, thats almost exactly how i did mine except I didnt run my cable under the floor.... :D

Started of just wanting to tidy up the wireing loom and then figured with the new gearbox almost ready to go in why not just take the whole engine out!

with the engine out icould get to the loom. Tangle of crazy wireing... so i spent most of the day today re-doing it nice and neat.

Now i just need about 400 liters of degreeser and a brush to get the bay clean and it will be ready for paint!

Loom!!!

  • 3 weeks later...

So I had a few days off work last week and managed to get a heap of stuff done on the rolla!!! I've Stripped it right down to it's shell, removed all the body deadener along with a bunch of other stuff that i will no longer need like the heater box and everything that goes with it, took to the parcel shelf with a grinder and cut a big chunck out of that, and removed basically anything else that wasn't welded on!!

I searched around for a while for a rear strut brace but had no luck finding anything so decided to use the one i had from the Levin. The 2 front bolt holes lined up perfectly and i made up 2 plates out of steel for the back bolts, went and got a peice of 45 angle from bunnings and bolted it inbetween the parcel shelf panels and it all fits up nicley!!!

Custom rear strut brace!!!

With all that done i got to painting.

Still got doors boot and bonnet to go.

Loving how its all coming together at the moment, i have new front and rear rotors coming tomorrow so the brakes will be finished and it will be back rolling again. I'm also working on a custom plenum to house my trumpets!!! pics coming soon
