My stock as a rock KE25 came with drums on all corners, so i think it's safe to assume the KE20 and 25 could have either.

 

It's easy to do a basic brake upgrade on them anyway and a good brake upgrade with a little bit more work if you need it!

hey YLD-TOY , what brakes are you running on your beast?

Lindsay, mine is a pretty basic (but adequate) setup, on the front I run KE55 hubs with peugeot vented rotors and AW11 MR2 calipers. The rear is using commodore drums (couldn't go for a disc setup with my current wheel offset unfortunately).

 

This is good enough for full sessions on the track at Wakefield with no brake fade and ok lap times.

 

I am building a front brake setup at the moment for a KE36 and if it works out as well as it's looking I will probably do the same on mine :P

Interesting. AFAIK 25's all had discs with Akebono calipers. My 25 is an extremely early one, and it had discs. Must be an odd ball. What year is yours?

I thought it was odd too, my KE20 had discs on the front and it was a 1973 model (same as my KE25). With the drums all round she never did stop too well :P

 

Toyota does some strange things at times though :P

I might drop in some time soon, and quizz you some more about the brakes on your car Shane, I need new discs etc on the front of the KE30.

I think you might be interested in the brake setup I'm building for the KE36, it would be a bolt in for your car too :P It all looks good so far but I won't make any claims until it's on the car and tested. :P

My current setup required no welding, the only parts that required work were the:

 

- Caliper mount from an RA23 was fitted to my KE25 strut (some measurements and a drill press is all that's required)

 

- a spigot ring had to be made to make the disc hub-centric (a machined steel ring)

 

- the disc had 3mm machined off its diameter.

 

The new setup I am making at the moment requires no fabrication and appear to be a bolt on fitment for KE30 -> KE55.

What size wheels do you need to run to clear the peugeot disc?
