Hey all, just wondering if anyone knows if the toyota 1Y 1.6l engine and the 3Y 2l engine are interchangable, as in drop in and bolt up (like a 3k and 4k).

As I've got a 86 hilux which is slow as balls and the engines getting old, so I figured if I could get a 3Y and bolt it up to all the gear then I'd be good to go. Can't find any info on the net so figured I'd ask around on the toyota forums ;)

 

Yes I know the 3Y will be slow too, but atleast it will be able to get around the hills a bit better haha. All it is is a cheap beast.

PM rob83ke70, he fitted a 3Y hybrid to his Dyna recently and will have some idea.

Yes thery are interchangable, i have little 3y townace and they are like the K engines.

Juat about everything changes over.

Also have a manual for it too if you need it.
