Yes, those Ramflo air filters do make the engine sound a lot louder, I can vouch for that myself, I had one on my Corolla at one stage before I changed over to a Redline air filter, I didn't want all the foam deteriorate and get inside the engine. (personally I believe paper filters are the better way to go).

I was reading on the box that you can run it oiled. So that might stop it deteriorating....that or I could run a bit of mesh over the carby intake to catch the foam...but I can't see it deteriorating that quick.

 

You can buy replacement foam for pretty cheap too.

I only had a Ramflo filter because it was all I could get at the spur of the moment when I changed my carb, its all down to personal choice, I just feel safer knowing my Redline filter won't deteriorate. What made you change over from the standard air filter out of curiousity?

The stocko filter box wasnt flowing enough air and sucking oil out of the crank case to try and make up for the air that it couldnt get thru the 1 inch hole. Now it flows MUCH better!

Yeah, my engine does the same thing sucking the oil out all over the palce.. one of these days i'll get it out and fix all my oil leaks :blink:

I was thinking about what it sounded like and from about 4000rpm on full throttle it sounds like a deep rotary exhaust! :P

:P mine rarely DOESNT see 4000rpm. 6000rpm is a trip and a half! 5400 is a good peek rpm for my engine

Much to my dismay although Toyota was good enough to create a stock 100kw in my car they somewhat dampen that by haveing a fuel cut just below 6500 rpm :P

i have had a pod filter on my camry for about 2 years now and with the EFI it has a really nice induction noise. it kind of sounds like a good exhaust but cause the noise comes from the front it sounds better... much better than a farty exhaust.

I can rev my engine out to just over 6000RPM (Once your over that *INSERT VALVE TAPPING SOUND*), 3500RPM - 4500RPM is where most of its power is at, damn I love hearing it rev :)

hrmm...damn valve bouncin....I wonder if I could fix that when I build my motor...then we'll see what I rev out to :P I don't allways rev out to 5000rpm...its usually alot less
