luk3333 Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) Just busted off the timing cover of my spare motor to discover a double row chain, woo! Are these stock or has someone been tinkering with engine? Edited April 8, 2013 by luk3333 Quote
kickn5k Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Not sure on a 3k but yes 4k are double row std. 5k's have a single row. Quote
GJM85 Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 A 4k I got off a member a couple of years back had a single. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 I thought it was 3K's with the double, 4/5 with single. Quote
luk3333 Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) Maybe they were stock with a double and when the chain was replaced people put singles on them? Or vice versa? Edited April 8, 2013 by luk3333 Quote
wagn Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Every 4k i've pulled apart (3) has had a double Quote
kickn5k Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) All three of the "flat top piston" 4k's I've pulled down have had twin row. Was that 4k you had Gav a 4ku by any chance? You'll probably find its the hydro cam engines that run singles. Its pretty easy to tell if its an aftermarket performance one. They'll have multiple key ways on the crank gear.
