killwake ninja Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 hi guys i have a ke70 that has a 4k in it, it is running a 3k carby. the problem is when the car starts cold it is fine, but upon warming up it stalls on idle and at traffic lights and such, i am kind of a noob when it comes to carbies and have been searching for a solution. any help is greatly appreciated :y: Quote
killwake ninja Posted July 10, 2013 Author Report Posted July 10, 2013 cheers mate i will try that when i get home Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Check the points gap and timing too. As the points age they wear so the gap gets smaller and that retards the ignition timing, which makes it idle slower. Make sure the gap is correct then check timing. A dwell meter is more accurate than feeler gauges, if you have one. Quote
ke70dave Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 I put a 3k carby on my old 4k. I'm not convinced the standard 3k carby and/or carby jets can supply enough fuel for a 4k. Mine was soooo slow. Howe ever it didnt use much petrol! Perhaps it might be worth swapping in the jets out of a 4k carby into the 3k carby, its essentially the same carby so shoudl bolt in no worries. i was going to do this, but i fixed the 4k with a 4age. altezzaclub Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Perhaps it might be worth swapping in the jets out of a 4k carby into the 3k carby, and, like jasonke20, check the venturi sizes in the throats to see if the 4K flows more air than the 3K. i fixed the 4k with a 4age Lol- the ultimate solution!
