succulent eye Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Hey all I'm currently trying to replace the tps in my ke35. Also while driving it randomly starts jerking and then fixes up for a bit then does it again. It had the efi 2tg in it. All help appreciated. Edward. Quote
ke70dave Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Is the jerking problem related to the TPS you need to replace? ie, why are you replacing the TPS? Quote
Kina Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 You do realise that the factory 2tg efi TPS is bascially a Throttle Body Switch (aka on/off) and not a Throttle Body Sensor which outputs a varying signal with opening/closing of the throttle body? The 2TGEU TPS has 3 stages. Idle, normal, >60% throttle. And as you press on the accelerator, little arms in the TPS close different circuits, idle if bottom 2 touch, normal if nothing touches, >60% if top 2 touch. It has a little track which a runner sits in to connect the different arms. Take the cover off one and have a look how it works, very basic. A resistance sensor based one ie 4AGE, 3SGE, etc is different and measures the position of the throttle body plate in all possible movements from fully closed to fully opened but the ECU will need to be able to recognise this. The factory 2tgeu ecu is not designed to work with these type of TPS. Quote
succulent eye Posted October 17, 2013 Author Report Posted October 17, 2013 I'm replacing the tps due to the revs going up and down at idle. I don't really know if it has anything to do with the jerking as u drive. Quote
