deception345 Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) I've got a strange noise coming from the carby whenever I accelerate. Sounds like a ticking/rumble noise. When I turn off the motor, makes a gargling noise. How much would you guys think ball park wise it would cost to fix something like this? I'm not sure if its much help but I took some video footage. Any help would be appreciated. Edited January 17, 2016 by deception345 Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 Sounds like you've blown the exhaust manifold gasket. Pretty straight forward to fix. Quote
deception345 Posted January 18, 2016 Author Report Posted January 18, 2016 Is that the gasket between the extractors to the engine? or the gasket between the carby to the extractors? Quote
Mechanical Sympathy Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Same thing - the gasket on a K series engine is shared between inlet and exhaust. They are sometimes available as a two piece item (for cylinders 1 & 2 and 3 & 4) but the one-piece item is more durable. Quote
altezzaclub Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 or the gasket between the carby to the extractors? or is this one the hotbox joint where the inlet bolts onto the exhaust manifold?? Pull it all off the motor. Put a steel ruler along the manifold faces, both inlet and exhaust, to see if they are lined up nicely. If they are not (common) you could try to loosen the hotbox nuts at the bottom of the carb and realign the two manifolds. Buy a one-piece gasket and put it back together. Make sure the bolts and studs have clean holes and threads. Check the bolts in a couple of weeks, they seem to loosen over time. I did it in here- http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/27374-one-piece-manifold-gasket-who-makes-them-4k/ Quote
