  1. Currently I'm driving my stock ke70 but I'm looking to upgrading to a new car once I'm off my P plates. There have been so many options but I have narrowed it down to two options. Mitsubishi Evolution 8 or a Mustang 2016 EcoBoost. The car will be my daily driver with hopefully a little bit of track. Just looking for some advice and info. I've been looking at these cars and between the two the only real difference is that the EVO is AWD and the Mustang is RWD. They seem to have roughly the same kw/horse power and both 4 cylinder with turbo. However not to sure on body weight. Price right now, The mustang is cheaper but in a year or so I can only assume that they will go down in price? Now being that my ke70 is a RWD I have no issue driving them, But everyone I know whos driven an AWD have absolutely loved them. I will be wanting to Modify them down the road but finding a stock EVO is near to impossible.. At least for a reasonable price. What do you guys think? Which one would you pick and why? Not looking at spending anymore then 30 -35k
  2. Is that the gasket between the extractors to the engine? or the gasket between the carby to the extractors?
  3. I've got a strange noise coming from the carby whenever I accelerate. Sounds like a ticking/rumble noise. When I turn off the motor, makes a gargling noise. How much would you guys think ball park wise it would cost to fix something like this? I'm not sure if its much help but I took some video footage. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. The first picture is the car I have been wanting for a very long time. Only problem is that it's a v8 only and 50K+. It's a 2006. The one of the right is the new 2015 model and although It's not as nice as the 2006 it definitely it nice and much cheaper them most used 2006. Also I've heard that Mustangs are really heavy cars, Is this true? and if this is the case, Why is it that they seem to keep up with most high end cars today?
  5. Sorry for the late reply guys. Thank you guys so much for all your replies, help and advice! The reason why I'm getting a mustang is because I mainly love the look of them, I fell in love with the car when I first played need for speed.. Corny I know right! :osama: I initially wanted the 2006 model v8 but from what I've heard they aren't the most reliable, is that true? Also as much as I want and need a new car, I don't think I have the funds to keep paying for petrol for the v8. I was looking at the Mustang 2015 as its a v4 so it should be fuel efficient and being a newer model I should be able to upgrade the shit out of it later down the track. I've seen videos of people in america who pimp the hell out of their shelbys and they look amazing! :lovin: I can confirm though that the ra28 and gt86 are absolutely beautiful cars as two of my mates own them. @parrot I will definitely check that out, If I have any left other cash from the mustang I'll contribute :) In regards to the KE70, I learnt from a client of mine that there was an aussie pro drifter 'Johnny Van', owned a garage near my work. Since the last mechanic I took my KE70 to butchered and ruined my car. I figured I'd take it to this guy as he is a beast when it comes to upgrading and fixing up these types of cars. He gave me some great advice and even offered to take the KE70 off my hands for $4k when I'm off my P's given the condition and only having less than 120k on it. He also offered to teach me some of the basics about disassembling the parts, cleaning and tuning it so I'm definitely looking forward to that! :) @Bueno I haven't heard of a lot of these cars but I will definitely check them out thanks! I'm not a big fan of the Supra, I've seen it in person and I don't really like the look of them. Evo lancer is actually a nice car that I don't mind. Subaru WRX are beautiful cars too! But I'm concerned that by owning one, People will think I'm a wanna be lebo and won't cops always hound me? I could buy a pre-owned Mustang but the prices are still higher then a brand new 2015 one. Maybe when the 2015 mustang comes out the prices might drop? Either way I'll keep an eye out :)
  6. G'Day Rollas, So I'm only new to this community and cars in general so I apologize in advance. I've been a proud owner of my KE70 for almost a year now but I am in need of some advice.. I have a 4 Speed Manual CS, Everything 100% stock and original, being that the car has been garaged for 20 or so years it still has some problems. I've been wanting to get a mustang for quite some time, but I'm also really interested in turning my car into a drifting/daily little speedster. If I was to keep the car I would want to do the following. Change paint colour Install chrome bumpers, body kits/lips. Replace 4k engine with SR20, upgrading suspension, brakes and maybe put a turbo on it? Replacing stock exhaust with something with a better sound and power. Replacing clutch and pedals. Replace rims to JDM or something. Replacing head, tail and indicator lights. Replacing all internal radiators, power leads and fittings. Fixing the problem with water filling up in the boot and replacing the front grill. Now I know replacing these things is no easy task, it will require a LOT of money and labour. Now the money I have but I no nothing about cars but I am definitely eager to learn! Anyway my question is this. Would it cost more bring this 'car up to speed', getting all the parts, labour, fittings and engineering certs or will it cost more to get a v4 Turbo or v6 Mustang 2015? From what I've seen online they are going for around $45 - $55,000 brand new. Of course it's got to be a manual. ;)
  7. I didn't know petrol could work like hahah! By brakeclean.. do you mean brake fluid. I don't have any carb cleaner.. where can I go to get some? Super Cheap Auto or Autobarn? Should I remove the crap off, Is it worth me recarpeting that area like I did with my base carpet for my boot?
  8. I'll head off to bunnings tomorrow and see if they have any in stock :D
  9. I had a look in regards to my tail lights and I think your on to something there as both the lights plastic covering have started to dissolve. Would it be worth completely replacing both sets of lights with aftermarkets instead, as I was planing to do that anyway. I have floor/tile sealant that I used last time and it seem to do a pretty good job. It just seems odd that water gets in so easily when it rains, but when I took a high pressure hose to it, no water got in at all! Could be condensation from the tail lights?
  10. I need some advice from you fine people, and I was hoping you could help me out :D I seem to have a problem with the right side of my boot, Somehow water seems to keep filling up and I have no idea why. I took it to the BP to give it a clean today, I was soaking that area with a high pressure hose and the whole time it never filled up once.. It only ever seems to fill up during heavy rainstorms.. Any ideas? I checked my seal on my boot and everything it perfect. I did have some gaps in my tail lights but I have sealed them up since then. Cheers :)
  11. G'Day Rollas, I need some advice in regards to removing excess glue and rotting carpet from the boot of my KE70. I've tried steel wool, turpes.. even a chisel and nothing seems to remove it. Just wondering is anyone has any ideas or has managed to remove this kind of stuff before? I want to try and save the paint if possible. Cheers.
  12. Sweet, This will come in handy! I'll have a read of it tonight :)
  13. G'Day Rollas, This is my introduction and entry for my KE70 code name 'Swift'. This baby is my first car and I absolutely love her! The car has been in our family for 30 years, most of which it's been in a garage for 20 of them and is still in pretty much perfect condition. I have done some work on the car since I have received it. I'm not very good with cars but I think this car is the perfect to start to learning on. I'll be using this thread as my way of tracking and logging my progress. As of right now the current upgrading and modifications I'm looking at are.. Upgrade the stock sound system, Hopefully install sub and amp too. Replace tachometer from KE70 with a AE-71 (RPM Meter & Digital Clock combo) Re-carpet boot, Reseal holes and remove excess glue and gunk. New Paint job, Respray to a Glossy Cherry/Apple Red. Replace stock bumpers with chrome bumpers Replace stock head and tail lights, however still unsure which set. Rounded possibly? Find lip body kit for front. Need to research more to find sellers. Replace stock rims, however still unsure which set? Upgrade the engine to either a 4AGE or SR20. Including suspension, breaks and axis of course. :rolls: Upgrading the exhaust, however still unsure which one? Being everyone here is an expert compared to me, what upgrades would you recommend that aren't too expensive? :D
