Head Gasket Failure

Recommended Posts

when i bolted the head on the engine had just come back from being re bored and dippin' and so it was as clean as a whistle.

why would having the carbi out of tune allow the motor to run at 4000rpm when hot and idle normally but rough cold??? :D

can some one please tell me how to post a pic? i can't seem to be able to do it?

maybe running way rich...close to stalling when its cold, but when it warms up it burns all that excess fuel.

to post a pic i just upload them photobucket and put the image tag img in the thread

have you considered talking to carbie people?

a mechanical pump isn't ideal, but i doubt it would cause the problems they have described.

i had a cracked inlet manifold at one stage. it made it run a lot faster when the engine warmed. probably had something to do with the crack growing when the thing warmed up and making more of a vacuum leak.

if the thing is idling at 4 grand when it is warm, it has to be getting extra air from somewhere.

I looked at your photos

You're running your side-draft weber off the standard mechanical fuel pump?

I think we have worked out why your engine isn't running properly...

Nick,up until i put the NOS on i was running the STD pump for both carbies without issues.
