SoulSearcher Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Hurro, WELL, I took broomdey into Toyota for it's 60,000klm service, and I asked them to look into the noise in the front end. Well it turns out that the car needs a new Driveshaft and other bits, total cost $800 including labour....*heart stopped* then I remembered...I've got warranty!!!! So I asked if it was covered, and it WAS!!! So, next week I'm getting new driveshaft and front bits! I love Toyota's and their extended warranty! So, here's the silly question..... What exactly is the driveshaft?? Is that the bit that the CV joints join onto on each side?? Lesley :P Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 So, here's the silly question.....What exactly is the driveshaft?? Is that the bit that the CV joints join onto on each side?? Lesley :D do we need to answer that :P oh and yeah ur on the money with answering ur own questions :S Quote
Terminal Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 driveshaft in FF cars is like an axel, goes from hte gearbox to the wheels. in a FR car it goes from the gearbox to the dif, then transfers to axels. it's fairly elementary, my gf who knows nothing about her corolla knew what a driveshaft is. SoulSearcher Posted June 10, 2006 Author Report Posted June 10, 2006 So I picked up the car a couple of nights ago, it was 1 degree *cold* but holy moley the turbo liked it, It has never, ever, felt like that before, it was as though a little tap of the foot made me leap forward and the pssshhhttt ing was in full force. So, of course I took it for a cruise...BUT the front wheels sound like the tyres want to strip themselves off my rims...best example, I have a RC car and when you chuck it round corners too fast the rubber comes off the rims....that's what I imagine is happening at the front end, there's not as much noise as before, unless I'm doing somewhere between 70 and 90 round a 45-55k bend. So, should I take it back to them and have a look at it, or is it just normal tyre noise??! The tyres are about 3 weeks old. Lesley :ninja: Quote
Xany Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 The tyres on your RC car need gluing on. :ninja: as for your car tyres, is it just road noise?.....make sure you have the correct pressures in them first :bash: Quote
love ke70 Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 what size are the tyres? sounds like a high sidewall rolling over, mine do it all the time Quote
