Stuart89 Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Hi All I recently had a drifting accident which has prompted me to get a new diff that happens to have been welded! But it is a t18 diff out of an te72 rolla or celica. Ive heard although the ae71's and the te72 both run the t50 gear boxes because the te72's are older the number of output splines in the gear box are diifferent? Any one know if this is true? If this is not true i could just run the t18 tail shaft with no probs to my gear box. If it is true is there a way to use the stock ae71 tailshaft and connect it to the t18 diff? Cheers for any help Stuart Quote
CD_rollaman Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 If you have a two piece tail shaft, use the front half from your car, and the back half from the car that the diff came out of, should solve your problem. Quote
Raven Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 (edited) Its don't think its a two piece. It think its a once piece but i'm not sure.. You'd need to get the tailshaft modified to suit and then get it balanced as well. I don't see it costing any more than $150 to modify your exisiting tailshaft. Edited June 25, 2006 by Raven Quote
Biggo Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 they are 2 peice. You need the rear half t18 shaftf and the front half ae71 shaft and connect them at the middle uni. or get a t18 t50 and use the entire shaft. Quote
rthy Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 u can use the front half of a ae86 tailshaft and the t18 rear half they have flanges or something with 4 bolts to makes it easy to swap over the ae86 rear half is 1-3cm longer than the t18, u can use the whole ae86 tailshaft if the car isnt lowered Quote
