demuire Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Oh wow, you're doing the Midnight to Dawn? Cool :) I was wanting to do it too, but have no car that will probably make the distance (red car broken, white car has 3 forward gears and 5th is getting gradually worse. I'd hate to have to drive 460k's with only 1st and 3rd...) I might be there as a nav though, but not sure yet. I've never done the Midnight to Dawn but have done 2 other nav runs... I'd imagine you'd want a good torch (big torch and little torch for map reading - maybe even a head torch), some different colored pens (highlighters also useful), clipboard, note book, rally rover if you have one, maybe even a piece of string (in case you have to do distance traces) and a ruler. And yes, coffee, red bull or whatever keeps you awake... Quote
Teddy Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 wow one day i would really like to do that typa thing... wish u luck !! Quote
demuire Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Then come along, you don't even need a CAMS licence or anything (if you're navigating). Just bring yourself (and maybe some money). There's no limit to number of people in a car I think. Quote
demuire Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Woo hoo, leaving in about 10 minutes :P I'm not driving, will be tagging along with Evan and Cara in their Lancer. Have coffee, have V, have Mars bars, head torch and big torch, clipboard, rally roamer, highlighters and pens, am all ready to rumble! Quote
demuire Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Hmm, sleepy already, and I haven't even left the house :P Quote
demuire Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Head not working... Gah, Noel woke me up. Oh well, going to see this Corolla that Teddy is buying now. Who knows, maybe might even get some photos. ... brain not working ... *what brain?* Quote
demuire Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Results are up: ICC Midnight to Dawn Results 2004 In short: 1st place - Larissa Skyring & Paul Cairncross (HSCCQ) 2nd place - Peter Steinback & Andrew Whittaker (MX5) 3rd place - Paul Bergmann & Melinda Both (datgirl) (BSCC) and others: 11th place - Evan & Cara Wheeler & Fook (demuire) (HSCCQ) 13th place - Zahir Naggill & Alex Toomey (GCTMC) 18th place - Karen Dunkley & Paul James (mumblezz?) (VWDCQ) 28 cars competed. I think the main thing that killed us was the 1st section, we forgot to read all the instructions before hand and so missed a hell load of points for the last question (that required us to remember all the towns we'd been in in sequence...) Oh well, maybe next time. Well done to datgirl for a podium finish, then again unsurprising since we all know that datgirl is the "uber navigator" :P Quote
mumblezzz Posted May 24, 2004 Author Report Posted May 24, 2004 WTF MATE??? They've managed to get my name wrong and I'm in the Volkswagen club???? At least i was in a toyota :P (even if it was a tarago) Quote
mumblezzz Posted May 25, 2004 Author Report Posted May 25, 2004 Correct but they were meant to put us under GCTMSCC so we could run for interclub points. Quote
demuire Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Interesting... Oh well :P You could appeal I guess... Quote
