My Hachi-roku "dori"

Hey there guys, i only just joined this forum but have been looking around for a while.

Anyway, my name is Justin, i live in Tassie and i own a Sprinter. I bought her last year sometime ( i think? ) and paid $1900. Pretty good price considering various taxes these days...

Anyway, at first i was fairly happy with her, but i slowly got pissed off with the suspension so i chucked in some AJPS 5 kilo front and 4 kilo rear springs, along with some KYB excel-g shocks. This has made her handle a shedload better, but I'm starting to find it to soft. Gonna be grabbing some 8 and 6 rates soon, but that is still a little way off. I also found the stock brakes frustrating, so i threw in some Race brake pads, once again supplied by Daveooooooo! That is about the extent of the performance modifications, the rest is just rice in the forms of a nardi wheels and some BBS imitation rims. These rims will only be on for a while, after the restoration and engine i am gonna be getting some XR4's.

Anyway, After a short period of ownership i started to discover some little spots of rust throughout the body. as it turned out these spots of rust were numerous, and in some spots quite bad. So she got sent off to a mates ( Aaron, tas_ae71 ) dad, who fixed up some of the worse stuff in the drivers side rear quarter, but i then decided to do it right, and do it once. So i have just recently started on a full restoration of her body. I know its pretty pathetic really, as i am planning to build her up into a street/drift car i should really be putting in better suspension, lsd and a 4age first, but i just want a nice clean base to work on. A bit of peace of mind, if you like. So thats where the project is at at the moment. Its getting there slowly, but hopefully by the end of the year when i get my L's i will be looking at a hundred percent rust free, resprayed car.

Future plans for the car include a 4age by the end of next year, hopefully also a LSD, stiffer suspension, new shocks for the front, letterbox grille, front lip, Bride seat and hopefully even a few little go fast bits on the motor. I'm aiming for around 180 HP in a N/A application, but we will just see how she goes. I'm just enjoying the project and the car, so modifications will come in time.

Anyway, its pretty weak compared to pretty much all of the cars on here, but here are a few pics. I will try to include soem captions about what stage the pics are from, and will try to update the thread as regularly as possible for anyone who might be interested, hahaha.

I just also want to give huge Props to my main men, Brenda, Aaron and Joash. Without you ugly, stupid bastards this car probably wouldnt even be mine hahaha. Special thanks to Aaron for all of his continual hard work on the restoration, and his patience when it comes to teaching me.

Sorry about the huge novel on the matter as well guys! Anyway, here are some pics.

This is dori ( my sprinter ) when i first got her, all i have done is the rims and a bit of tidy up.

This is her with the new springs and shocks in. Sitting nicely, but i still want a little lower when i get the new rates.

Interior before i stripped it. Nardi!. When i put the interior back in after the restoration it will have no carpet, some sound deadening removed, and pretty much no interior bits apart from door trims and the dash.

How she sits at this very moment. Undergoing transformation.

A Little spray can left overs. Nothing goes to waste!

Interior. Dastardly stuff. Wont be going back in...

The Body panel preparation part of the shed. Note the Dirt floor. Ghetto spec.

The Quarter that i am working on at the moment. Needs a bit of bog work, but nothing drastic.

Couple of finished opanels ready for respray. Bonnet and front guard. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so the project is coming along slowly. It will get there though.

Bit more of a detail shot on the front quarter. This is the last panel that i have completed at the moment.

Anyway guys, hope some of you found all that unnecessary writing interesting, i will be checking back with some more pics soon of the project, but until then, take it easy!

rep the pro (me) :hammer:

na it is slowly coming along nicely, it has the usual hachi rust, but it was needing a full restoration..

just takes time and patience... oh and money :lolcry: going to get into it flatout soon, as justin wants to try and get it back on the road by time he gets his L's.. can't blame him really i wouldn't want to have such a wikid car for 18months or so and not being able to really drive it when i actually got my licence.. better get some elbow grease into it.
