ancullen Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Got an interesting SMS this morning - Anthony (owner of the S2000) bought another car yesterday. It's a DA (1989-93) Honda Integra with B16A. It was a bargain, and is a neat little car. He took me and another friend for a ride in it, and it goes okay. VTEC sucks worse than turbo lag though. :D He reckons he'll be doing 1:36's in his first few laps of Hidden Valley, dropping to 1:33's with practice, with NO modifications to the car (it's got a cat-back exhaust, nothing more). The KE55 has only done a best of 1:35. I told him I think the best he'll do in it's (Integra's) current state is 1:35's. Consider the two cars: Integra: 160hp, 155Nm, 1,040kg Corolla: 160hp, 200Nm, 850kg (approx.) He has an advantage in that the Integra is a better designed car, with trailing arm IRS, plus it's FWD so it will lay down the power better than the KE55 does. HOWEVER, he's never driven an FWD car in anger before (not that it's that hard to do), plus he's still got standard ride height (surprisingly high), while the KE55 has been lowered at the front. By the time we actually race, the KE55 will be lowered at the rear, possibly with coilovers (not a high chance though). It'll make for a good race, but I'm pretty damn confident I can beat him. ESPECIALLY if I get the ABV mod done before then. :)
ae174agze Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 adam i do hope you don't get beeten by a honda ahahaah and btw you said something a wile back about a to w bellhousing can you slip us some info please ???? might have to hit you up for one very soon :D
ancullen Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 I did??? I know they're available, but most are from Thailand and are apparently shitty. There's also Dellow A-to-W bellhousings available which are also apparently shitty. Not sure just how bad either version is, but I think the issues were that the items were badly cast.

I saw a Malaysian one, casting looking like birdshit. Wouldn't trust it with the power output of my clagged 4k. Didn't you say you could get them from the US, for $330 Adam?
ancullen Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 I may have said that, but for the life of me I can't remember where I'd found them.
ae174agze Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 ahahah yeah the dellow ones are twisted slightly so a very custom gearbox mount has to be made then theres issues with the gear stick and starter motor postition and shit like that i'll stear clear of them ones i'v almost decided that its not wearth it yet i riped the engine from the celica and took the sump off and have a look what came out ahahahahah not good me being no mercanic but i reccon the person that f@$ked it most probably over heated it coz you can see its riped the bearing out and probably locked up and riped the conrod to shreds if you look at the one of the studs had its head torn off and it looks like it got hot really hot

The conrod and bearings then smashed themselves to bits on the crank and bending and finally breaking the other bolt in the process. If the bearing started spinning, the result can be the same, but the first scenario looks more likely. Edited January 20, 2008 by Sbox
Pure-SX Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 Thats what happens with Vtec kicks in :hmm: How was everyones weekend?
ancullen Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 That is one Mcf@$ked conrod!!! Weekend was okay. Sat around and did absolutely nothing on Sunday (not by choice). I wanted to go work on the KE55, but Alley took a while to get up, then we were meant to go out and do some stuff, but she stuffed around and then had to go to work. I was pretty pissed off as I'm all revved up about getting the KE55 done now I've seen Anthony's Integra. I should be able to beat him, but I want to be certain. :hmm:
ancullen Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 As I've mentioned previously, the Australia Day Ute Run is on again this Saturday 26 January. At least three more helpers are needed to help out with the muffler throwing competition. Could a few of guys join me? We can all pile into my Corolla, and I'll bring an esky with a few drinks for us all. Should be a fun day, plus we'd be helping raise money for the Variety Club, which is always a good thing. Post up here if you're coming along with me - that way anyone that doesn't reply or doesn't help will feel really guilty and will have to change their mind. :2thumbs: BTW, which would be a better tow vehicle - a Hilux or a V8 Soarer/SC400/LS400? :hmm: Soarer: http://www.drive.com.au/Search/SearchResul...amp;sf=priceasc SC400: http://www.drive.com.au/Search/SearchResul...amp;sf=priceasc LS400: http://www.drive.com.au/Search/SearchResul...amp;sf=priceasc Mmm, 1UZ-FE bored & stroked to 5.2L with a supercharger sitting in the middle... an easy 450hp should make the KE55 easy to tow.

ancullen Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 Feel guilty then. Think of the children! Poor emaciated little bastards with all the diseases under the sun. Hear them cry and cough as they try to call your name. "Shane," they cry. "Shane, help us. We're so sick & hungry. Why won't you help us?"
