Ke30 5 Speed Diff Questions

Hey guys got the 5 speed in my rolla on the weekend and i'd like it to rev a little lower can someone give me some diffs to find that will make it rev lower, i was thinking a KE55 XX Hardtop diff? cause that's what the 55 K-50's came in?

What diff are you using? Isn't the tallest ratio (and therefore lowest revving) diff you can go about a 3.7 or 3.9:1? Have you got a 4.3 or a 4.111 currently?

If you've got the Borg-Warner diff, I can sell you a 4.3:1 centre. I have got a 4.111 centre, but it's welded. I doubt either of these will be much use to you though. I've also got a welded Sprinter (AE86) centre if it's of any use.

I have a 1981 KE55 4 door sedan with a factory 5 speed, and even a 5 speed badge on the boot, so they certainly didn't only come in the hardtops.

 

And the hardtops and sedans have the same ratio, the only one you are likely to find with a different ratio is an auto diff, and if you can notice the difference between them then I think you are smoking crack, because I have an auto diff in my coupe, and it feels exactly the same as when I had the manual diff in it.

 

Plus, the 5 speeds have the same ratio's as the 4 speeds, 5th is just an overdrive I think.

 

My car always does the same speed at the same revs whether I have a 4 or 5 speed in it.

OK cheers for that man, yeah it only lowers mine by about 200 rpm in 5th, i just thought the 5speed diff might have made a little bit more difference

my old ke38 CS had a 5 speed and it was factory, it has a borg warner diff.. whats the ratio of these????
