ancullen Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 (edited) I've got a mate who has come across a Toyota strut in his backyard full of parts. It has the brake caliper on it (single piston) as well as the rotor/disc, which is ventilated, but standard looking. The hub is a four stud pattern, but I haven't measured if it's 4x100, 4x110 (unlikely), or 4x114.3. On the back of the strut, 'TOYOTA' is written, and below that is 'EX 18S'. If anyone knows what model this strut has come off I would greatly appreciate your help, as the guy wants to get rid of it (preferably to me), but we both want to know what it's off before we commit to anything. Raven Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 I'm getting som RA60 celica struts, calipers, LCA's, and castor rod's in a couple of hours. I'll take pics when I get them back here and see if it matches what your mate has Ancullen. Quote
ancullen Posted September 11, 2006 Author Report Posted September 11, 2006 That'd be great. Thanks. I'm thinking it'll be Celica or Corona due to the ventilated discs. Could turn out to be something FWD, but I'm hoping it won't. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 Just take it you girl...if it ends up being useless, throw it away Quote
beerhead Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 if it's FWD and a toyota it won't have a horizontal based mount, it'll be vertical one that slots over a meaty tag. If it's vented and single piston it'll be a late model corona or a MA60. Everyone's been strut shopping today, just picked up a set of corona twin pot non vented cause I can't be bothered pulling the ones out of my car to mod. cost me $60 Just remember, you won't be able to get 4 pot Hilux calipars to bolt up to your *A60 mount without mods. ancullen Posted September 11, 2006 Author Report Posted September 11, 2006 I've got ST141 struts sitting next to my car. If I want the unknown struts off my mate I'll have to throw some cash his way. beerhead - not entirely sure I understand what you mean with the horizontal versus vertical based mounts - can you provide images? ancullen Posted September 11, 2006 Author Report Posted September 11, 2006 BTW, my info states that Corona's didn't come with vented discs (I previously thought they did). RA60 is a possibility though. Quote

Raven Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 (edited) Yep, RA60 have 258mm Vented Front Discs. Edited September 11, 2006 by Raven Quote
Raven Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 All posted for ya Ancullen :) I just edited my last post. :D Hope it helps... Quote
beerhead Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 (edited) Yeah just checked again, looks like all the corona's share the same unvented rotor. I don't own an AE82 anymore, so maybe someone with an AE82 can take a snap of how the front strut is mounted to the stub axel. Here's a pic of how a magna strut looks. They look similar to an AE82 one. Imagine a stub axel with a big fat tag coming up to full the slot between to two plates on the left side of the image Edited September 11, 2006 by beerhead Quote
ancullen Posted September 11, 2006 Author Report Posted September 11, 2006 beerhead - I think we're on the same page now. Thanks. Raven - that could be the strut, but the one my mate has doesn't have the spring or strut top on it. Does yours have a number on the back at all - just below the spring carrier? Quote
Raven Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 I'll check when I get up in 4-5 hours and let you know. Quote
