teza40 Posted October 11, 2006 Author Report Posted October 11, 2006 HI 2 All. little update time on the ke 38 panel van.on holidays been n had fun up cooloola beach in my toyota 4 runner for a week. back home and time to get busy with the corolla and its rusty front lower gaurd problem.its amazing they are not as bad as the should be, unbolted the front bar and then the right hand fender a heap of built up dirt and ants fell from behind the lower part of gaurd. heaps of dirt living up under the top part of gaurd also. the left hand side has been off before at some time and was alot cleaner.still the rust affected area is worse on the left gaurd at the bottom, has been done bog boggie before long time ago by me and recently by some one else. so now is time to do it right ( check out the pics ) not welded in yet but patch panels hand cut n shaped close enough to fit by me, i used a ra40 celica windscreen wiper panel for donor metal.( any one intersted in ra40 parts most of the car is here in the back yard).just thought i would throw that out there...lol ok catch ya later Quote
teza40 Posted October 12, 2006 Author Report Posted October 12, 2006 HEY 2 All. Another update on the fixing of the dreaded rust in lower gaurds of the ke38 van. Ok so I'm no welder by trade but the mig i got a lend of is fairly easy to use,i made the patch panels the day before(ready to go). had no major dramas for my experience of welding and now just finish off with bodgie bog. But much better than what was there and will last along time (i hope).....lol.. OK enough from me ....enjoy the pic`s. any comments or questions....go for it.. Cheers Terry Quote
teza40 Posted October 14, 2006 Author Report Posted October 14, 2006 (edited) HI 2 All, Just another quick update, been out playing today on the van. Started the bodgie bog job on the lower gaurds to hide and finish off my ugly welding job when i put the metal in where rust was...lol and also dragged 2 of the 14 x 6 alloy wheels off the celica for a look and see if i like them on the van..... so guys what do ya reckon...any good...yeah could go lowered.lol cheers Terry P.S.they are not globes.. i just had the caps laying around and used them to fill the holes..looks neater. teza40 Posted October 20, 2006 Author Report Posted October 20, 2006 HI 2 ALL. Hey JIP_01,thanks will be better when all four mags shod with new tires are on( they just on the back for now). well gaurds rust repair done and bolted back on, not perfect and not final paint colour but good enough for when i take it for safety certificate to change rego into my name (see pics). a pic also of the tape radio unit fitted ( that and the eight ball shift knob, seat covers the non original parts inside up front). more body work getting done slowly...need to make some more money...usual problem everyone has... cheers Teza40 Quote
teza40 Posted November 30, 2006 Author Report Posted November 30, 2006 hi 2 all, yes its been a while since i have updated this, the panel van goes for its roadworthy friday. i sure hope it gets through first go. have replced the bonnet with a non rusty one i got from narangba wreckers $70,a couple of second hand tyres for the rear original rims from tyres galore in morayfield $40, the rust is done the car is stock as and the cops followed me home the other saturday...legalised harrasment i call it.they didnt get me didnt even pull me up to speak with me...go figure..guess they were just bored. when the ke38 is registered in my name is when i can do more to it via the way of its first custom paint job, will be grey primer with 50`s style scallops that complement the body lines and maybe in the future some moon disc`s and porta wall white walls (flappers). stayed tuned guys. this is to be my cheap but fun times panel van cruiser cheers teza Quote
