i've been running leaded petrol in my ke70 since our family has had it. obviously, its been running LRP lately.

unfortunatelly, LRP will no longer be available soon.

i was told by my dad that i will need to run premium unleaded + additive.

will i lose / gain power or long term reliability?

are there any conversions that i can do to get more power / convert to plain unleaded?

also, as a young kid at a deli would ask, "what can i get for fifty cents?" , i would like to ask.... whats the best performance upgrade i could get for say... $200 to my 4kc? ...(besides taking 100 kilo of crap out the boot)

First up, Ke70's will run on pulp no probs - they all came with hardend valve's from factory. The lead replacment stuff is absolute S*it, putting it in any motor is an insult.

Just some ideas with power...

- Get a 3K head - straight bolt up, will increase compression ~ giving a slightly more powerfull "bang" stroke = bit more power. You will need a new head gasket and manifold gasket as well..to be on the safe side.

- Looze the automatic tranny - they suck alota power.

- New points / condencor / leads.. etc

- Good service always helps

After doing alot of research, and farting around - the 4k is a reliable, strong motor which holds it self well (in stock forms) upto about 6,000 - anything after that is over kill, but it will still go.

The 4k is a pushrod motor, and compaired to say a 4age (twincam) - they are very, very in-efficient. It really depends how much punch you want out of your corolla - if you want it to sound like a toyo-rotary, put a lumpy cam and large exhaust on it and walla - a nice sounding corolla, but for power wize... save your $ and go 4age alogn with all the other stuff needed for the conversion.

I could blab on all night, but I'm stuffed. Good Night ZZZzzzzzzzzzz

my car has been running LRP for about 4-7 years now, and its done about 70,000km on the stuff, so i'm worried the converstion might be a lil rough.

should i start with premium unleaded and then move to regular unleaded? without additive?

Its not like the engine has to morph shapes. Just jump right into it.

I have a partially ported 3K-C head here. If I finish porting it Id be looking for about $150-200 (cheap considering professional porting jobs are $800+). Then youd need to shave the head, get the valve seats ground, and lap the valves.

damnit, all these years, i could have saved money using unleaded.

i'm going to fill up on unleaded on sunday night. - and take her for a spin to see if i can pick on any differences.

set your timing to 10 or 12 on PULP, adding octane booster isn't going to help unless your ignition timing is advanced to take advantage of the slower burn of a higher RON fuel. some guys on oldcorollas reckon their cars go faster on regular unleaded with stock timing, than on premium with advanced timing

yeah, i'm going to try normal unleaded soon. just to experiment.

I need some more low end grunt. mid - high 2nd is just perfect atm.

What should i tell my mechanic next service?

i mean, to get some more grunt out of my little machine?

should i ask him to check the timing? or examine the points?

Oi!

Leave my amp and sub alone.

I also have a girlfriend who likes to sit in the passenger seat, so thats gotta stay there.

I race downhill mountain biking, so i chuck the bike on the back on a custom bike rack made for sedans :)

Only problem is, it hooks under the lip of the bootlid, and i'm worried it will rip the boot lid off completely if i got over a bump too hard. :P

i still drive like i don't care tho
