This is one of the best build threads I've ever seen, for any car. Subbed.

My daily 300ZX died in the ass the other day so decided to do more work on the Hachi. 300DeadX Siphoning away. Why she wouldn't idle... Reconditioned head apparently. Started carpeting.. More to come...

Matched up my RC car:

Update! Bought some hurricanes. They're in the mail. Fitted my series 2 front end. Looks dope. Painted the car. Looks like someone set fire to it. Let's go. Probably going to redo the bonnet and roof, they're a little patchy. Still, not bad for a dirt driveway job.

Not much, but I decided to get my OK'ish camera out and did the whole "tape over the headlights for JDM look" trick. Also got an AE86 gear nob and the rear boot seal Hard parked under some hardcore bamboo yo.

Haha, won't be selling her in a very long time so for me it's not about the value, I just want to make this (always been my dream car) to be the dream car I've had in my head for nearly a decade. Cheers buddy. Cars like this don't deserve to be parted or scrapped. Plans are (for now) 4AC stock motor and T50 for daily use. Sanding, welding, priming, then silver with black bumpers and wing, lowered onto 14" longchamps. Maybe further on I'll go 3TG or 18RG or 3SGTE, but it would have to be quad carby. Not so keen on the 4AGE's. EFI in an old corolla feels hollow to me. Cheers mate, only thing stopping progress are my apprenticeship wages. Need to buy a belt driven compressor, whole bunch of air tools, guns for spraying, welding gear etc. I barely have enough hand tools to do my job let alone restore a car.

Thanks. Bit tidier than the faded/scratched grey colour.

So I did the bumpers today. Sanded them down, primered them using a flexible primer and then sprayed them with bumper paint. Went for satin black. Also painted the grill in gloss black as well as the little number plate light holders, also in gloss black. Went all the way to even colour matching the screw heads. I'm a bit pedantic when it comes to details, want this car pretty spot on when it's finished. I think the bumper is slightly bent. Might need to set up a couple of vices and leave it for a bit to straighten out. The ass: A video of it's first proper run: So total expenditure so far: Car: $1400 Hatch + Spoiler : $200 Oil + Filter: $50 Air + Fuel filter : $15 Bumper primer, bumper paint and paint for grill + rego plate lights : $25 Total : $1690

This is the worst of where it's been cut out: The rest of it has been cut out around the guards and will either need flaring and then bogging to look ok, or I could just ignore it and get bolt on guards.

Did some more putting stuff together today. Got her to the point where she was drivaeable with the doors tied up. Had to jump start it and re-tune the carby and timing to get her to idle. Still misfires though. Interior is looking a little sad.

Car hasn't been started in 1 and 1/2 years, all I've done is throw a battery in it. Fuel tank is drained at the moment, so I haven't had a chance to run it. I want to drop the oil, filter and gearbox oil first, replace the fuel filter and get some new plugs and leads on her before I take it for a run. Previous owner said that the head was rebuilt before he bought it, and he only ever ran it a few times. Motor looks really tidy. gearbox feels pretty tight, but I'll give her a good service before I try starting it up.

I have a spare freshly built 4kc sitting here, very, VERY tempted to get a 4AGE head for it now....

So here's my first AE86. I've had KE70's and a T18 before, but not a hachi. So it's either a Dec 83 or a Jan 84 build (not sure) zenki Levin. Bought it for $1400 full of holes where rust had been cut out. It had no panels on it but came with everything minus a drivers door. The hatch that came with it was cut to bits so I went and got a TRD one with no rust for $200. Trailered it 300kms home pulling it with an R30 Skyline (that only overheated once through the hills) and left it overnight still strapped to the trailer. The next day I started just bolting stuff on, seeing how it all looked so I can decide on a paint colour and start welding/sanding/priming. Anyway, here's some photos. How it came: All packaged up as a DIY kit. Waterproofed with bubble wrap, a plastic bag, and the tail lights taped on. Bolting stuff on: Front starting to come together. Wing looks pretty tough. So total expenditure so far: Car: $1400 Hatch + Spoiler : $200 Total : $1600 If you include fuel and trailer hire, it comes closer to $1800. Plans are to finish putting it together for now, decide on what I want to do with it, get the 4AC running, then strip it, weld, prime, paint, take it over the pits, get her rego'd, then slammed on longchamps and use her as a daily.

This guy was such a clown. GTR on his P plates. Racing past, overtaking 6 cars at a time on the straights. Generally being a tool. Couldn't drive for mangoes though. Saying that though, it's surprising how quick the KE70 was through the corners. It darted a lot quicker than my old T18 did! It's alright, timing's gone so it's just a matter of time before pistons meet valves. I'd love to do something similar. My old T18 was a self built 3TG. 2TG head on a 3TC block with twin sidedraft solexs. It was beasty. I want to replicate something similar with a carb'd 4AGE. Haha that's insane! But like I said, timing is rooted ;)

Here's the daily kaysev, waiting on the 4K to explode for a 4AGE. Actually kept up with this tool through the hills.

I know for a fact that the front is the same as an AE86/T18 so AE86 coilovers bolt right in.
-
Like I said, I was going to get bolt ons. But then the unfortunate happened: Everything still works, just looking for a TE71 liftback to swap everything into. Looking very closeley at this one: http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/7734-TE71-levin-2500?highlight=TE71

Offset. Learn it. It was awaiting bolt on guards but the unfortunate happened and now I'm looking for a TE71 liftback shell to swap the goodies into.

Haha thanks. I know a heap of QLD guys from www.auz31club.com that would be all over it in seconds if they knew about it. Imagine seagulls to a bag of chips.

My pants just creamed themselves.

These didn't come out in a V8 for this chassis. The biggest was a 2.8L straight 6. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/49779-75-mercedes-benz-280e-w114/

I'm trying to find somewhere that will repair it without writing it off. It's hard to find parts for it though being only 2 of this model in South Australia. :'(

I have a 1984 Nissan 300ZX Z31 non turbo 2+2. I bought it for $400 because it has a blown head gasket, although the motors only done 50,000 kms. Here's some pictures: The day I got it: After cleaning the interior, buying floor mats and new wiper blades: Some shots after washing it: After ripping out the air filter and replacing it with a pod: Muffler had a hole in it so I found a quick and easy fix: I wouldn't usually go for something like this but it cost me $55 because it had the wrong price tag on it. I couldn't say no. More pictures: Got a 600W amp and 1300W sub off of a mate. Started to rip up the stereo. Still deciding on which head unit to buy. I painted the rear brake light seperators and started on the rear rego plate backing. Mumifying the brake lights: Painting the seperators: I went over a bit so I decided to keep going and I started to paint the rego plate backing area, then ran out of paint after the first coat: What it looks like now: Photoshopped myself a clear bonnet: Interior at night: Got bored and cleaned all the plastics and rubbers in the engine bay: I wired up my Pioneer head unit to the amp and I bought the second Sony Xplod. I know that they're meant to be terrible quality but they actually sound really quite awesome: Replacing a radiator hose has never been more challenging. Ok. So here's the old hose: And this is what was inside it: That was easy. Now here's the gap where the new hose needs to go: 3 hours and 2 bleeding hands later: A mate turned up to help me flush the radiator. Notice his import 200ZR in the background. it was built for drifting by Trial in Japan: Got some spare time and did some painting:

We should start our own T18 forum :P
