  1. I started off buying a white slanty 4age ke70 from SA, left Melton at 5:30am, drove to the other side of adelaide and then drove this corolla back with no heater & a locked r/h/f strut for 7 hours at 4,200rpm.

It was standard bodied on 14 inch cressida steel wheels.

I cut the springs and fitted a set of rota grids & cheap china tyres then it looked like this.

    Went drifting with it

Decided I'd have a go running it around Winton with my friends in their r33 gtsts, Best time of the day first time ever on the track was 1:52.4

Was hooked on racing so I started to get into any track days I could, I completed a second winton track day, only thing I changed was my tyres (achilles 123) & my rear shocks to keep up with the higher spring rate caused by cutting the springs. Best time the 2nd time out was a 1:48.

Third time taking the car out racing was at the Bryant park "haunted hills" hillclimb. Best time of the day was 61.8 seconds. I tried too hard after my 2nd timed run and managed to put it into a tractor tyre wall. Fair ʞ©$ɟed it too.

Done really well in the new car, 1:45 straight off the trailer.

(no photos of the car at winton this time sadly)

Ran out of guard clearance when I fitted my AJPS LCAs.

Got a full cage fitted (don't have a good photo of it) and patched up the rear firewall/parcel shelf to pass scruit at Winton.

Ran the new car at Haunted hills again, didnt put it into the wall this time! yeeeeeee. Done a 60.72 lap with a mega ʞ©$ɟed alignment, 20 degrees toe in & over 5 degrees neg camber.

BIG thanks to Grant @ Gripshiftslide.com for the awesome photos.

  2. That's a stunner up there in the pic, mine won't be so pretty :P.

I'm fairly electronically and mechanically minded,I also know a few of the right people, I also HATE dealing with messes. I'll be putting it together the first time and making it run immaculately, I don't have the coin to do it over and over again so it'll be done right the 1st time (as cheaply as possible, but I don't have to pay for any labour so it won't be hard!).

  3. Hey, my name is Adrian, I'm a mechanic from Melton and I like KE70's lol.

At the moment it's a stock 4k with a straight through exhaust to massive chrome cannon LOL, it's also a 5 speed.

I've procured a 1JZ and I'm sourcing a gt35 to start off with and we'll see where I go from there. (I don't want to use the twins setup.)

Also got a bunch of S13 suspension bits to go in the front of it.

I'll be hunting around 300rwkw's and a reasonably stock looking car, wheels and ride height are all I want to change.

I'll post some pics up tomorrow, it's nothing special at the moment but I'm about to change that!

  4. The jealousy is rising...:laff:

Welcome to Rollaclub! :y: There's TONNES of 4AGE info on this site & elsewhere (Wikipedia has a great A series engine guide ) but long story short the later model 7-rib blocks are better for boost than the earlier 3-ribs, got bigger gudgeon pins, also got oil squirters for the pistons :). A set of GZE pistons & rods in an NA block isnt too bad a thing.

Edit: Nice ride! These are less 'chubby' than the VX series, a mate of mine has one of those & yes, those blown V6's can pick up their skirts & move! Especially with a pulley kit but thats another story

    Haha, thanks mate =]

This site will be my bible over the next few months haha.

Yeah I'll be looking for a 7 rib block then, the GZE pistons are forged correct? are the rods forged aswell or just h-beam or something?

I definitely like the VY/VZ shape over the more rounded VT/VX shape, I've had all sorts of performance ideas for this car I was going to leave it at; intense stage 3 cam, C.O.M.E stage 3 heads, all the bits and bobs to go with the cam install (valve springs, pushrods, roller tip rockers, lifters etc.), a 77mm pulley and the 3.7 lsd along with a nice mafless tune which would've netted me around 200rwkw's safely and easily uncooled.

  5. Yeah, it keeps up with LS1's and falcon v8's just with the pulley so I'm excited for the diff haha.

I've been thinking about buying one with a 4age or 4agze converted to turbo, although I wouldn't care if I had to do it myself as I have a whole workshop complete with hoists and every tool you could think of to do the conversion, but yes it would be easier to get one already done. Also if I had to do it myself I think I'd be going with a 4agze starting point, would a gze be prefered? I'm not 100% clear on the differences between the blocks but I am sure that one of them IS better than the other.

  6. Hey, my name is Adrian, or Ady, I'm a mechanic from Melton in Victoria, I've been lurking this site for a while and made an account the other day and thought I'd just post up my cars.

I used to own an '86 AE80 Corolla that was on gas, it was the cheapest thing in the WORLD to run, shattered I got rid of it =<

I am however about to get into the KE70 market, I'm gonna put a 4AGTE in it, or buy one already with a 4AGE, doesn't really bother me.

This is my L67 engined (factory supercharged v6) Holden VY Calais.

I've got a smaller pulley on the supercharger now, 87MM for 10psi boost in the LIM, I'm going to put a 3.7 ratio LSD in it and then leave it at that and get into the KE70.

    Ady.
