  1. Hey guys, I'm new here but I thought I'd share with you in detail the build I have been doing over the last month and a bit. My names Jarrad, I'm 19 and in Melbourne. I got to uni, studying industrial design and I managed to cram this into my holidays just over. Here she is as I got her. A very tidy example with a few needed rust repairs in the usual places. It's done a few km's and needed a new diff. Apart from that - spick and span. Owned by a car-detailer that sold it because he got a AE86. Prior to him it was owned by a Toyota mechanic. First step for me was to start hacking up the rust. I stripped it completely and made up some panels to weld into place. Once I'd done that, I fibre-glass filled the gaps, followed with plenty of sanding and bogging. It got to this stage after that: Similar repairs followed in the wheel arches: Somewhere between all of this the car also got it's springs cut, a roadworthy, and the stock rims painted black. Once the repairs were done, undercoat, rubbing and painting followed. Some of you with a keen eye might recognise different guards in the paint oven - yep. I've always liked quadlamps and decided to undertake making them fit. Now to do it properly, a quad conversion is a big job on a slanty. It begins with sourcing panels from a flat front, I picked them up from Pick-A-Part luckily. the lights themselves are off an RT104 Corona, which the bases were modified and welded to fit and mount on the rad-support of the corolla. You might also see that the door-frames have been painted black. That was my dad's idea so I thought "why not?" give it a go, see what it looks like. I don't mind it actually. Front comes off... Front goes on... After fitting the lamps (if you have more detailed questions, ask me :) And here's a before and after image Happy to share my build with you. Please, if there are questions I'm happy to get involved and answer them! Especially with the specifics of making quads fit because I know I found it hard to find straight-forward information on it. Especially using non-jdm parts on a budget.
  2. Talking about original cars, they have a 1973 or 72 Mercedes for sale for $1500 out the front. I don't know enough about them, but I'm sure an almost-complete car like that has to have well over $1500 worth of parts on it. ...That's if you know where to sell the parts. Small market. They also have a Corona for sale, $750 with chrome fender mirrors and "JDM" stickers on it, haha.
  3. I was at Kilsyth today - there's a Slanty and a flat front side by side. They cleared out a silver flat front that was there. They were put out within the last week so there's still plenty of parts on them. Usual bits are taken. I took the front bar, grille and an un-cracked overflow/washer bottle unit today. The yellow KE55 is still there too, although it's probably almost ready to go out. It still has the chrome bumpers front and rear - although they aren't super. Also, there's a Crown there which was unusual/rare, possibly a 77-79 model, not sure.
  4. Hey, my name's Jarrad, eastern suburbs, and I'm brand new here. Long time lurker however haha. I picked myself up a yellow KE70 a couple weeks ago after a long infatuation with them, here she is the day I bought her: It's a stock-as-a-rock '84 slanty - super clean with a bit of a dodgy repair in the boot which is all fixed now. Dad's a panel beater so I've been spending the last couple weeks working to get it ready for RWC repairing rust (as I'm sure you can all sympathise, haha) It'll be going on CH permit as we're Pontiac Car Club members, having a '77 Trans Am and a '63 Catalina to keep the K-sev company. I've acquired the parts for a flat front conversion with quadlamps, but I'll be sure to keep the original front if I ever wish to revert it. I managed to get RT104 lamps fomr a Corona - the bases are all steel so cutting and welding to mount them will be no problems - I'm not scared to try things. Good to finally sign up :)
