  1. Yeah, worked it out now haha. It just seemed kind of odd to me. And I wasn't sure what was called what. Obviously I'm not the first person to think "Wait.. what?" Thanks anyway guys :)
  2. don't worry guys! Found the answer already http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/27375-extractors/ So the intake manifold is just left there? There's no blanking plate or anything?
  3. More parts today! Bought a 5 speed box and tacho dash. Pretty pleased about what my little 'rolla is going to be getting in the new year :D Now I'm just chasing a set of extractors is anyone has any laying around.
  4. Nah, it's got the adapter plate screwed to the stock manifold. Then that screws to the exhaust Excuse the crude image, but don't extractors eliminate the join between the two pieces of exhaust and inlet that the weber bolts onto?
  5. Update! As you may have read correspondence between Josh and I, above. That didn't eventuate. I had a look at the car but it wasn't going to suit my ideas for application. BUT, in other news. I've purchased a 5k engine with a weber carby, and I'm in the process of organising some extractors for it. now looking to hunt down a K50 5-speed to complete the upgrade for it. :) more power to come!
  6. Hey guys, just a simple question here. I've already looked on the FAQ page about the exhaust system and the carby information, but I can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I'm not sure what terms I should be searching. When it comes to running both extractors with a weber carby, the inlet manifold (I think it's called, I'm not from a time of carbies) is obviously not going to bolt onto them like it does the stock headers. So what should I do where it should bolt on? Is there some sort of blanking plate or something. Sorry to sound like an absolute noob, but if someone can point me in the right direction, I would be really happy :) Thanks guys. EDIT: on a 5k engine
  7. Wow, that's quite a unique setup you have there, very cool!
  8. Nah, I probably won't be. It's a fairly decent trip from Lilydale and back. So we'll either go in my commodore or dad's Hilux. And hopefully drive home in a pano haha.
  9. As does yours and you've got a really good base to start with. It looks really clean and low kms :)
  10. Thanks guys - nice to finally get some decent photos of it. Love the wheels, Spencer! And Josh, I'm still keen to check out the Smurf, and possibly take it off your hands ;)
  11. Went out today and took some photos with a mate that also has a corolla, 1989 Seca with a 4AGE Took them up the hills and through some gravel road - my suspension didn't like the 1 foot pot holes hahaha. It also had its first drift. I found a sweet gravel car park and did a few turns and figure eights and stuff. I've never really experimented with that before so that was heaps of fun. Here's some pictures we took today, hope you enjoy them. I actually had my SLR with me this time, no iPhone photos haha.
  12. What he said ^ Patience is a virtue, haha. They'll still look fine though, so don't worry too much :)
  13. Hey mate, don't have the wheels but I've got some friendly advice. Instead of doing the work first and then seeing if they'll fit, get your wheels and tyres and flair your guards based around it. Each wheel and tyre combination will have different aspects to it. Whether you're going to run stretched tyres or not will also affect it. You'll also get a WAAAY nicer stance if you flair exactly to what your wheel specs will be. 8' at 0 offset is quite a bit. I'm around +2 offset on 7' with just rolled guards and there isn't too much room, it's a decent flair.

    Rians Ke70

Lol, yep. Hence why I haven't started or worried about that as of yet. It's actually just as easy to do a non-toyota or some crazy-ass engine swap into a KE as it is a 4age. It's just that the 4age has been done a million times, so the knowledge of common problems and conversions is there.
  15. Hmm, thanks. I'll keep that in mind too. I also totally forgot to mention. I painted the rear bumper today in that textured bumper paint to match the front. It looks brand new!
  16. Today was good progress! I spontaneously went to the wreckers to find something to do... came across a VL wagon with a full suspension setup. Newish gas shockers and low, sports springs. Surprisingly, there were no KE70s there.. No KE model anything actually. I set out to see if a fresh one had happened to come in, and if I was in super luck for a tacho dash, door rubbers and only if the gods were smiling on me... a 5 speed hahaa. You can guess what I helped myself to. Fitted, it was super easy. As soon as I unbolted the old shocks, one collapsed down - probably good I replaced them. They were marked 1997, hahaha. It was finally worthy of it's "low and slow" sticker... because it won't get much lower than that.
  17. Sounds like too much effort to me hahaha. The exterior of this car looks professional, but it's almost all Mexican suspension-wise haha. Thanks for all the tips on that though. It's definitely going into the memory bank if I get really serious about it. At the moment, the suspension works. It's a bit rough but not intolerable. And handling - well anything smaller and lighter than a Commodore I consider to handle pretty well haha. I've got sports springs (not lowered or anything) in my daily commodore (yes, I know "ugggh Commodore wanker") but I'm not. Maybe you can tell from my typing capabilities?
  18. It's funny I just checked this now. I was just about to come on and look at suspension for it. Planning on going lower tomorrow - cable ties may be needed haha. Seeing as it's on club rego, I only drive it once or twice a week. If it becomes a daily I'll need to sort the suspension out properly. And depending, I might need to look at shocks then. VK wagon. Sweet. I assume VK are different to the sedans then because of weight distribution, etc? I'm trying to picture placing the tube in it.... But yeah, the XT130 struts... are they pretty much take the stock ones out, put those in? And any other parts needed, like LCAs or anything? I didn't really want to go a whole changeover due to cost and whatnot.
  19. Mate! My dad has one as well, it was recently in a photoshoot. A 1977 T/A Y81 special edition. They'll always have a classic shape to them. Good pick up :)
  20. Everytime I see your little picture pop up in the forums, I think how cool it is. Regardless of power - it's a sweet looking ride.
  21. Haha, I don't have chrome because I didn't really want to spend $300+ on a set of bars. And the yellow.. Well at first I definitely wanted to change it. But the more and more I drive it, the more and more I like it. Most people don't give it a second look - but people that know what it is/are into cars.. it turns heads. These guys in a 60's Chev were checking it out the other day haha. I liked that. And you can thank the man above for the rims ;) I'm really happy with them.
  22. Nothing too exciting happening recently. I've been driving it a bit more lately (still haven't serviced it.. tsk, tsk) I came home today and mentioned to dad that maybe I'll just turn it into a daily once club rego runs out next year. Forget about any engine conversions and all the complications. Just love it for what it is aesthetically. Pay attention to the small exhaust leak and either source a decent 4k or just give mine a good clean and tune, get it running RIGHT. Whack a carby and extractors on it, and a factory 5 speed for more comfortable cruising. Maybe pinch-a-part a tacho dash if possible. It'll be cheap and reliable, not that my current daily isn't. But I've grown tired of it and just love my KE hahaa. Anyway, here's a recent picture to finish that off.
  23. Sad to hear it's gone! But... Option 2. Easier to keep it close to original colour I still haven't re-painted your rims haha. I stripped them and did the polished/machined face and polished all the rim. Came up a treat and I've just left them silver.
  24. Thanks guys! I'm working to massage the stance this Summer break. Slight spacers possibly and a little lower. I want a snug fit. Also been considering a daily.. I want something sort of.. year 1995+ that's got a good look to it. But nothing's doing it for me haha.
