  1. mmm, probably wouldnt bother, the carpet will kill a good bit of the noise, and the underlay can make issues with the pedals etc...

had that issue when i was replacing the carpet for my vh commodore.. redid with epic expensive underlay sound deaden-er shit And it f@$ked me up hardcore.. had to cut patches out in the footwell near the clutch pedal because couldn't put my clutch on all the way enough for it to do the job properly..

though in the end it depends if you want to or not. Underlay would give more comfort n shit but isnt necessary as well your not going to be standing up in your car for 8 hours a day. And unless your making a pro showroom car. Probably wouldn't need it.. road noise you will get. but the carpet takes care of most of that :)

  2. NO SHEEET!

Had a dude I went to school with, Blew up his G13b 'zuki GTi. Then expected that he could get it towed to mine so I could fix it.

    PIGS f@$kING ARSE!

Ended up having a wrecker tow it away, gave him like $200 if that. He'd paid like $1200 for it 6-8wks earlier. HAHA!

LOLLL i was doing an apprenticeship as a mechanic.. At one stage i had 9 cars at my place.. 5 of them were mine. 4 were ones i had been given with small issues to fix that i could keep. 1 i brought and the other 4 were from my family all dumping there cars on my doorstep to fix because they couldn't be arsed going to a mechanic shop and thought i would do it for free..

I ended up with 2 cars left. and 5 grand I'm my pocket once i sold them all off.. Including family cars they wanted me to fix :P

  3. I like your idea of giving it a go yourself.

Theres a section on Fibreglassforums.com That is for painting, I have learn't a lot from that part of their forums and from my father in-law who is a panelbeater / spray painter / mechanic by trade :) but main help was from that forum for learning and shit.. Give it a look if your not sure or you could go into a paint shop if your having any troubles.. so your looking at going back to the original colour as such or close to?

  4. I gotta love me some old ford f trucks..

My most favourite is the 57' f100 would love to restore one of them one day..

but unlikely in my budget.. this is an amazing idea to do it up. you will always have something that you can attach to your father..

As you were both going to do something like this together.. this is a really good idea mate..

good luck with the build :)

  5. Can always find a cheapie that you will have to do a little bit of work too for a cheap price..

i got myself a ke55 for $300 motor and running gear is amazing..

Body not the best but it will do the job :) just keep an eye out :)

  6. abbott, theres a guy in Summertown ill try get in contact with him, He has about 15 or so corolla's.. always driven them. he is my cousins mate ill try get his number for you so you could get cheap ass parts or for free.. only sad thing is these cars are now Shells with engines.. doesnt have any straight or non rusted out panel on them hahaha

  7. I'm currently running in my toyota crown a sub like trev suggests with the port opening up towards the parcel shelf to bring bass into the back of the car.. before that i had shit all bass. with my f@$k off huge petrol tank in the way of the bass passing through the seats n shit.. mostly got stopped at the petrol tank

    i run a kenwood 12" 600w sub, and a cheapie 250w 12"sub and it pumps pretty well.

eventually i have my idea of getting another cheapie one from a mate making custom box, so the 2x 250w subs will be run by a 600w amp, and run an 800w ish sub from my 875wrms amp :)
