  1. During a conversation about fish oil and other things to do with rust prevention, someone told me that there are certain types of oils that can seep through seemingly hard surfaces such as glass, if left on the surface for a while. I think this has something to do with rust preventative oils being able to get underneath the paint to where the real problem lies, but I do not think this person was talking about fish oil as such, but something more advanced?? (it may not be a car oil at all, i am not entirely sure) Is this true or false?? I have tried to find out more about this on google but it doesn't seem to be working. Does anyone know the name or type of oils that can seep through surfaces? I suppose it has something to do with their molecular structure being very thin or something?? I actually am not presently needing this for my car, but rather am studying it at uni, so i really need any info anyone has on it Cheers guys
  2. ok guys sorry about this lol... more questions... my boyfriend has told me I should pay particular attention to the insides of the doors. I know how to take the door off, but once I am inside, where should I spray? And if the car has it's original plastic stuff in the door, should i remove that to get behind it? .. if that makes sense cheers!
  3. holy bleep!! i know this is a really old thread but just thought i'd say that sounds pretty darn amazing.
  4. i'm sure they are amongst you, just ask more chicks if they like cars :) I've known a couple. then of course you can inwardly laugh at them when they say they want to paint it with glitter paint
  5. ok thanks dan. I asked that question because it said something to that effect on the bottle, that as much rust and flakey paint should be taken off as possible with something like a wire brush. but i don't think i know anyone who would let me test the theory on their car lol. thanks guys all your help has been great! for anyone else, there is a new question up in the main post, so more fun can be had with fish oil!!
  6. Hi guys, not sure if you know me of not because I am quite new to the forums, and haven't posted for a couple of months. I have a ke70 corolla that i bought as my first car a few months ago and I'm keeping it standard. I'm also only just learning about cars, so forgive me for not speaking in car terms and jargon (also forgive me for asking seemingly easy questions). I have a can of $4 spray on fish oil, and although I generally know what to do with it, I want to make sure I am using it correctly and understand it fully. My car has recently developed a little bit of rust, one bit which is not just surface rust :) . The things that I wanted to know about the fish oil were... 1) Are there brands/types of fish oil that are better than others? (keeping in mind that I have the cheap one). 2) Is there such thing as using too much fish oil? Does over using it cause corrosion of paint etc? 3) I understand that there are different types of rust preventative for the under side of the car, would the fish oil that I own have any effect if i sprayed it, for example, under the wheel arches? Or am I just wasting my time? 4) is it a good idea to lightly scub the area with, say, steel wool before I apply the spray? am i in any danger of ruining paint if i do this? 5) will this stuff do anything at all for my non-surface rust? Will it stop it from spreading? 6? *NEW* will washing my car render the fish oil useless? like, will i have to reapply it after every wash? cheers!
  7. nice car, looks shockingly clean on the inside! but i thought the topic said it was overrated cond.? maybe my eyes are going :) gettin' old. nice rug btw... one of them would suit my old ladies car :)
  8. Name: Alinta Car: 1983 corolla ke70 CS Motor & Driveline: stock 4k, a lot of the parts were totally original, and no mods as yet besides errr 'sporty' exhaust that i had to put on it. vroom vroom! Suspension & Brakes: stock stock stock (sorry if i'm not very interesting :) ) Interior: original interior but is like new besides some dodgy springs in the driver's seat and a missing piece due to a break in. It's immaculately clean i reckon and the seals are all perfect not a squeak. Body: NO RUST. Body is pretty good, i believe the paint is all orig and it's still looking good. will get pics in about a week I wanna make her shiny first. So can i be an member too? :)
  9. *sings* i wanna see it painted painted painted painted blaaack! black as night! black as wolves! that was the rollings stones btw
  10. i live on a mountain so i needed a really reliable car to get me up and down it everyday and I was told that corolla was the only way to go and that i'd be hard pressed to blow the engine so that was good enough for me (i'm on L plates still see so unbreakable is a good thing). but the poor car that i ended up getting has obviously never seen a hill before in it's life (was a little old lady driver) so it probably doesn't know what hit it.
  11. *sigh* wow i can't believe in this day and age this is still an issue hey. personally, i think sex is the devil. no not really i just don't see the joy in having sex with random people who i don't know i was really peeved off to find that one nighters weren't as good as i expected :)
  12. argh some people are just useless! I don't mean to generalise but i think mostly it's young teenage boys too. grr a bit more than a year ago we had a beautiful old honda who served us so well until some shitbag kids stole it, flogged the shit out of it on a school oval, stole a basketball hoop pole, smashed the car with the pole then pushed the car in to a creek a few roads away from my house. And we never caught them despite the police fingerprinting the car (they were just my mum's fingerprints lol). And yeah, I gotta admit, I cried a lot. and i'm scared shitless about similar things happening to my corolla. some people just don't get the sentimental value of cars. go away this post is making me sad
  13. oh yeah i've seen people playing this game... it must be damn addictive. and if you have a mic and speaker set up you can hear all the other players abusing each other and shouting orders it's like joining an online defence force they are so into it ... in fact if the defence force claimed to be more like WoW i bet they would get an influx of people wanting to join. personaly the game makes me yawn but you can make your 'character' dance sexily so hey that's a plus
