Hi all, just wanting to gather some information on cam selection. i have a 4k motor with a webber 32/36 exhaust and extractors and a mild head recondition. spoke to a bloke today at waggott cam and he reccommended a 212 grind?? just wondering what grind i should look for, i use the car as a daily and i want to get the most out of her. with a nice lumpy idle of course ;) cheers Nathan

  10. Hi all i have a 1979 ke55 with a 5speed k50. Just wanting to know what i can do to this motor to get more power out of it? like exhaust, carbys, cams and things like that. i am on my p plates in NSW so i am somewhat restricted to swapping the engine. Any Ideas?? thanks heaps Nathan
  11. Awesome man!! yeah upgrading the 4k would eliminate the whole p plate situation and engine numbers would match up. Do you think it would cost roughly the same price to upgrade the 4k as it would to replace it with a 5k? cheers
  12. Back again, got myself a nice little k50 gearbox now just waiting for a 5k WTB 5k!! anyone know of any around? haha cheers

  16. Yeah thats a fair point^^^ also would i be better off to: upgrade to the 5k or mod the 4k or just wait and upgrade to something later like a 4age or ca18 or something like that? cheers
  17. Thanks to both the replies, yeah i have a cousin who has done endless conversions on datsuns and things of that sort i will just get him to help out. i do not plan on doing anything stupid to catch attention i just want a clean rolla with a tiny bit more go. Also could someone answer the best place to buy the 5k engines? like wreckers, import sites .. ect? cheers
  18. Alright, yeah fair enough i guess i will just keep looking around until a KE series box pops up. cheers
  19. ah right, so i guess wreckers and things like that? just wait until one shows up...

  21. wow thanks for the reply mate, really appreciate it. also are the 5k engines hard to come across? ive been looking online and having a look on jap import sites and things. are they the best places to buy?
  22. Hi all, Very new to this. I have a 1979 KE55 sedan in great condition, it runs the standard 4k-c(149,000km) and 4speed box. I am looking to upgrade to a 5k with a 5speed gearbox, i have a few questions regarding this conversion. I am on my red P Plates in NSW am I restricted to conveting the engine? Is the engine hard to convert regarding mounts, diffs, gearbox ect...? What 5speed gearbox options do i have? and any other tips and ideas you could give me? I have done a bit of research so far and I'm just gathering ideas. So all help and idea's are welcomed. accidentally posted this topic in engine conversions aswell... sorry for that! lol Thanks heaps. Regards Nathan
