  1. not sure.. I found them via facebook.
  2. just tried to flush the radiator one handed... not gonna work. :/
  3. Got the Jellybeans for the corona today. Now I need to find some money for tyres. Won't be doing any work on her for a week or so though because I shut my finger in a door today. 3 hours in the hospital, some stitches and some codeine later and I'm sitting at home infront of the computer feeling useless :sob:
  4. Stay tuned for a photo of the head. The best word to describe it is chunky...
  5. You know you need a new engine when.... Your water pump looks like this: Your Thermostat looks like this:
  6. Good idea! :) I dread to think what postage will be like to Melbourne... Mark, if I get that 81 grill from you before easter, I might be able to send the RT80 one to melbourne with my brother when he drives home.
  7. Yeah, I was just thinking about that today. Found this on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-Corona-SE-1976-Wagon-4-SP-Manual-2L-Carb-/221200635719?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D6277561246246207544%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D221200635719%26 but it looks to good to buy just as a donor.
  8. Just scored those jellybeans :D Gonna go pick them up tomorrow.
  9. cool beans! :D If it's easier, I can drop by some time when I'm down south and pick them up/drool on your car :P My girlfriend lives in blackwood so I'm down south of the city fairly often.
  10. Find a period-correct hot engine for it? :P I don't like the idea of straying too far from stock with these old classics, I prefer resto jobs, but maybe I can make this one period-correct hotty :D Jellybeans, lowering blocks, wing mirrors, GT stripes :P
  11. How much do you want for it? Also, any chance youve got spare plastic vent thingies that go in the rear pillars? One of mine is cracked
  12. Funny you should mention that.... Hopefully gonna score a set of jellybeans for $100 :D But also have the stock hubcaps which look pretty tidy
  13. If I had the time and money to spend on my RT80 to make it into a track car/hotrod, I'd go a 2.5L Daimler V8 But they'd make dreadful sports cars. Need new box, new diff, new brakes all round... Steering would be dreadful. Might be easier to get a decent rolla and put the 'rona shell on it....
  14. Bastards! I'm currently in the process of fixing up/cleaning up my '72 RT80
  15. With the bar across the middle? Like this: http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo156/pompi_photo/cor1-1.jpg That'd look great
  16. Finished cutting and polishing. Paint came up much better than I thought :D Also found some NOS indicator lenses in my box of spare parts. Hubcaps and dress rings are in the boot keeping clean :P Interior is next on the list
  17. I'd love a monaro. I'd have to go for a HT/HG/HK though. Sexiest by far. Although I do love the Qs too :D Uni is getting pretty hectic now though, so I need to slow down with the cars. I think I'll have to just pick one day a week to dedicate to them for now.
  18. Haha, yep. Got the 'rona, a Triumph 2500 running a 4.4L V8, a stock as HQ ute and a HQ kingswood that will eventually be done up as a variety bash car. Still contemplating getting a KE35 from a friend, but I really don't have room for it.
  19. Pulled the rocker cover off and had a closer look at it today. Seems like the vale isn't seated properly or something.. The valve tem seems to be sitting about 1.5mm higher than the others. Cheers Mark, I might go check out that 12R next times have a day off :) bit of a drive for me as I'm up north, but there's also a cople of triumph 2500's at Lonsdale I want some parts off of, so I can make a day of it.
  20. Yeah, I think that might be my best bet. That's what I did last time and I got springs out of a rusty old 8R. As long as I have a full matching set of springs with the same resistance, it shouldn't really be an issue. Problem at the moment is that I only replace one spring last time and its a bit firmer than the others so the valve doesn't close properly. Might have a look at the master cylinder then. And the floor. It's probably the same as yours because there was no fluid stain in the shed under the car.
  21. Anybody know if there are other engines that would have compatible valve springs with a 2R? I imagine that back in '72, a valve spring was a valve spring... can't be too much variety?
  22. Got my baby home today :) So here's some more pics Took about an hour to move all the other garbage out of the shed and then manouver it in the tiny amount of space and get it out the door. Engine still starts without any troubles :D But apparently the clutch leaks fluid somewhere because it was all gone, so I had to push it everywhere and winch it onto the trailer, but got there eventually So took her home and put one of the HQs in storage in the meantime to make space in the shed. Pushed her off the trailer and flushed the clutch lines, all working sweet now. The black gunge that came out of it was a tad shocking. Rolled down the driveway but didn't make it to the shed so I got all dirty climbing under it to fix the clutch :( After a wash: Interior: (untidy and a bit dirty, but all there and in good nic for 40 years old. Dash has a huge split in it though :'( ) Cutting and polishing tonight. Looks like the paint will come up alright, but it definitely needs a respray. I think I'm going to keep her for now. Try to get the engine running smoothly again while I wait for a new one to show up cheap somewhere...
  23. Thinking I will hold onto it now... But engine is first priority... But I also really want this KE35 and the 'rona is the only one I'd consider sellin at the moment...
  24. How do you do discs in these? I think some RT80's or 81s came with stock discs in the front? Also, another idea that is slightly repulsive, but at the same time, tempting... Rat rod.
