  5. doing a ke50 practically from scratch. after sorting driveline, I'm going for the suspension to sort next. So from what I am reading here I can swap an entire suspension and brake setup from an ae86, right. Wonder if you can stick the 86's power steering rack too. That would be an added bonus

The car was bought without engine and transmission, tailshaft, radiator, battery etc.. and having stood abandoned for sone time. brake and suspension systems need upgrading too. so since I am practically starting from scratch all the above needs to be donem would have been easier of coursrle throwing a 4 0r 5k but a dohc motor is a better starting point. even with the k motor, I would still have spent €€€ on upgrades.
  8. to be honest, i am only using the 5a-fe as I already have it after buying it by mistake for my daily 1998 starlet(mistaking it for a 5e-fe!!) I tried unsuccessfully selling it to buy a 5k, so I decided to use it instead of leaving it lying around. I already have a T50 for it(although without shifter). The engine originally had an auto tranny, so I will need a flywheel and clutch kit. That's not the main problem. what is worrying me is dizzy and water in/out elbows relocation. Even if i did find a 4a-ge, in all probability it would have been a fwd version, so the nightmare wouldn' t have been less grevious. the guy in the link you gave me had something even more complicated by using 4wd transmission!!!! at least I'm not into that. btw what is a T18?

  10. hi guys, got a 5a-fe lying around and decided to use it on my ke50. got 2 problems however. The distributor and water inlet and outlet will be at the back on a FR mounting. Any one here swapped a FF motor in a FR car pls who can help?
  11. got a FWD 5a-fe (jdm-only motor)so when mounted in RWD setup, exhaust mani is on your right(when you look from in front of the car). is that the correct position please? don't want to blow €300 away!! Thanks

  13. hi I came across this topic while doing some research for engine options in my KE50. I bought a KE50 w/o motor and tranny some months back. I also have a 5a-fe lying around, buying it by mistake for my daily 1998 Starlet(mistaking it for a 5E-fe). After putting the engine for sale and found no buyers, I am toying with the idea of putting it into my KE50. I know it needs(obviously) a rwd tranny. I saw this http://www.maltapark.com/item.aspx?ItemID=3538296 and can't recognize it unfortunately. If its a T50, will it bolt straight on the 5a-fe? also like the idea of swapping the plenum for bike carbs

  15. got one myself. doors, both sides, are very bad. The cowl panel has the LH corner missing, some corrosion in the 1st 10cm of the sills. Engine compartment, bottom and trunk pretty straight. It had a 1NT swap at some time
