  1. 14x7 I think maybe 6.5. Was told they were toms racing wheels but can't find anything on google..
  2. Corollafan it was doing this after a full service. maybe the mechanic missed a few things? will adjust the idle screw and see if that helps. maybe i need to fork out more $ for a proper service - dude that did it did it at home and i got no reciepts or proof of what was/wasnt done
  3. Just a quick update - the car still stalls at traffic lights when its idling around 800rpm. Whould I just adjust the idle screw or could it be something else?
  4. Thats the one! Should have realised it was simple - but no problem, got to know my engine more and glad for all your input mate! My thermostat is now working also so all seems good! Except for a whine in my gearbox -_- can't expect much from a car thats 2 years older than myself though hey!
  5. So after all that and Brought a replacement fuel pump as I was pulling the hoses off to install there was a cracked hose and a small peice of rubber was trapped inside the inlet on the fuel resevoir which is between the pump and carby.. Blew it out and it seems to be fine. Trimmed the cracked ends off the hoses so hopefully all is fine for now :)
  6. I have also been told it is the pump so I am buying another one this week to see if this fixes the problem, fingers crossed! The thermostat never moves no matter how long I drive it for it has never got to warm or hot.. this could be a problem? Easy to replace? Will update when the new filter arrives - thanks again for all your helpful input and time!!
  7. I should not the level in the carby photo I posted was at idle until I pressed accelerator then it dropped to pretty much empty. Revving to 3k or so.
  8. Did as you suggested and this was the result. Took ages to start and then I realised the stove pipe wasn't connected since last nigh so reattached and it started. Barely. When I did finally get it running it was cause I wasn't depressing the accelerator. After a couple minutes idle the radiator started to look like it was gonna boil over which it did after a few minutes although my temp in car registered nothing. After pressing accelerator fuel window in carby dropped to almost empty and the radiator level also dropped until another few minutes then it got all foamy and boiled over again. Is this what a normal radiator would do? This was a brand new unit installed less than a month ago. Could this be part of my problem or a glimpse at something bigger that I haven't even thought of yet? Ideas?
  9. So if this happened what is the diagnoses? I suspect a faulty fuel pump so I am going to get a second hand one and see if that stops the problem. I noticed when it died that there was no fuel in the carby window. And once this happened it would persist and not start/idle/or rev when I depressed the accelerator again.. so still think its fuel pump related. Should my radiator be red hot to the touch after just a 2 min drive around the block and the top hose feel swollen?
  10. Car started fine yesterday and sat idle, took it for a couple spins round te block no problem. This morning she died as soon as I left home and had to push her round the block to get home again. Not sure if it's related but radiator feels extremely not although temp on dash seems normal, and a lot of coolant is going into the overflow. Could I have a blown head gasket? Any other ideas guys??
  11. Dropped fuel tank gave it a clean and checked all the fuel lines - definately fuel getting through, struggling to put it back in without a second pair of hands. Rustproofed the filler pipe and cap as it was pretty corroded. As soon as i put it back together I will update on my problems.
  12. Thanks for all your advise, I will check all these this afternoon when I get home and report back - if its a fine day I might drop my fuel tank and check for debris.
  13. That is precisely the problem though if you didn't get my question. It just suddenly loses power, I'm driving along and it starts losing power I put my foot down and nothing happens then it dies.. Then I have trouble starting it or it won't start, or it will start then as soon as I put my foot on the throttle it doesn't respond
  14. I'm keen to hear more about these mikunis including who you got to do the work on them for the 4ac. I have this car and engine and was looking for something a little more fun until if i do an engine swap down the line.
