  1. Just opened the sump and found an odd thing: my rod caps have a huge gap, you can feel the gap when moving them by hand and you can hear the "tac tac tac" noise... Now, the oil pressure problem seems to be found, now I need to know what is causing it...
  2. Replaced the pump, it seems like it solved my problem. Haven't driven it in the street yet, just a few minutes working and revving in my place.
  3. Did a spin today and managed to get some feedback of this problem. It happens when the road goes up! If the car it's cutting and I the road starts to go down it stops and works fine. So it seems to be some fuel issue. Something gets out of fuel when the front is higher than the rear..

  5. Can anyone tell me what vacuum hoses I can eliminate? I have all the carb setup from a MK3 Starlet KP61 (4K engine) and it comes with a complex system of vacuum hoses that I heard can be reduced to just the essential!
  6. Yes, still having those oil pressure issues. I'm gonna rebuild the engine soon myself as no one seems to be able to handle this simple engine... But this cut problem suddently appeared and I want it solved before rebuilding, counting it's not related with the oil pressurei issues, of course...
  7. Another issue joins the list and a couple of days ago my 5K started idling rough, like it has a power shortage, sometimes it stalls. After this I took it for a spin and it happens while cruising too, it's a very strong cut, you can feel the car jump... Spark plugs and cables look OK, rotor and cap are a bit worn out. Dizzy points and condenser are 4 months old. Any clue? Could the dizzy delay the engine timing?
  8. What tyres sizes are you using? Different from factory sizes give error to the speedometer. Don't know about swaping the gearbox...
  9. Yes, the sensor is attached to the filter support. The thing is my engine runs hydraulic lifters which need oil pressure to work properly and open the valves. When hot I hear a clear "tac tac tac" coming from around the distributor, it's probably all related
  10. Recently bought a Weber 32/36 DGAV carb from a Pinto 2000 engine. I was told that I need to change the jets and other parts because of the lower displacement. I want to know if anyone can tell the best configuration. A friend of mine is using this in a Datsun A12 (1200cc) engine: Main jet: 140 / 140 Air jet: 170 / 160 Idle jet: 60 / 50 Pump jet: 50 Emultion tube: F50 / F50 Aux venturi: 3.5 / 4.5 I'm searching for a configuration like this one but for my 5K, it is 100% stock! Thank you
  11. I'm using Ashika 10-02-210 Oil Filter, does anyone know if this is a good or bad filter and if it can give me pressure issues?
  12. Yes oil filter has been changed. I'll be checking the crank in a few days. Strange thing is this crank worked in my 4K for more than a year with no problems. But maybe the 5K rods and the new bearings didn't adjust as it should..
  13. I was thinking of crankshaft bearings... Having to work my cranck and buy new bearings (around 150€) or buy a new set of lifters (24€+Tax each), don't know what's worse haha
  14. At first I was using 15W40 but changed to 10W40. It made no difference. How do I check for a faulty lifter?
  15. In March of this year I changed my 4K to a newly rebuilt 5K. Since the beggining that I have intermittent oil pressure light when the engine is hot. It doesn't happen all the times, it does more when I push it a bit. Changed oil pump, changed pressure sensor but it didn't solve my problem.. it only happens at idle speed, I usually pull the choke a bit to increase 50 or 100 rpms and it stops. What can be giving me low pressure? I hear a "tac tac tac" noise when the engine is hot, it seems to come somewhere near the distributor and I was told that the this noise can be related to the low pressure issue... Any help? Thanks!
