  1. For a first timer, especially considering you aren't surrounded by rally people, I would definately recommend buying someone elses car. I would also suggest it wouldn't be a bad idea pulling it apart to a small degree or at least doing a full spanner check (make sure everything is tight and in good condition) I have been involved in building heaps of cars, from club KE30 corollas to PWRC spec Evo X, and the costs keep adding up. And all the tricks that you learn as well from buying another persons car. We wouldn't have been able to build the X to the spec we have without having had a TRD corolla. And as long as your go over the car, it is a valuable learning experience to buy someone elses as you inadvertantly gain their experience as well. Just buy something you can afford to maintain and afford to crash. Something with cheap panels would be useful.
  2. Thanks heaps guys, You always want to win, but we were hoping to come out with a stage win, because normally this sort of thing takes time. Win a stage, later a heat and then eventually a whole event. For it all to happen so quickly is crazy! If anyone is still on here - TV wrap is on in about 1 hour (7:00pm AEST) on One HD. And we got a really nice in the recent motorsportnews mag But thanks heaps guys
  3. Thanks heaps to everyone who voted - he made it!!!! Glen is our newest Motorsport Personality of the Year! He's pretty stoked to win, heres hoping we can carry it on to next year. Thanks again everyone :no2: :jamie: Rally.com.au link
  4. Thanks to all that voted! Heres hoping he gets over the line. Every bit helps in the push to get to the very top :no2: :y: Trav - bought by a guy called Tony Robinson in Victoria. His email is on the vicrally group, maybe you could try. Not too bad a condition - he did have a decent hit on the front corner so hopefully he fixed it properly (I heard he put it on a jig), but other than that the car is still pretty good. He hasn't competing for the last few years (twins) so he might listen to decent offers. We resprayed it and changed a few things (we sorted the valve thing) and small changes to the suspension to get more grip. Still a great car when we sold it, Glen won 2wd state last event.
  5. I am posting to ask for your help for my brother Glen Raymond, who I am navigating for in the Australian Rally Championship. He is currently driving a ex-TRD Grp NP Toyota Corolla, and finished 5th OR in the championship with a heat best of 2nd OR for the final event of the year at Coffs Harbour. A few of you might also remember the yellow KE30 corolla rally car and a TE37 that he started rallying in a few years ago. Glen has been nominated for the CAMS motorsport personality of the year! For this we need your help - to have a chance at winning he needs your vote. The directions are linked below, and takes no time at all. CAMS aren't into spam, and there is a prize on offer for those who vote - a signed and framed Mark Webber print. So please vote for RAYMO! Voting closes this Friday 28th at 5:00pm so be quick! I have attached Glen's original message and some photos and vids. ___________________________________________ As some of you may know, I have been nominated for the CAMS Motor Sport Personailty of the Year award. I have been competing in the Australian Rally Championship driving a Toyota Corolla, but also navigating in the odd state and club round in Victoria this year. 6. 4K all the way. We had a 3K with a cam and 3k-b carbies and it was OK, but put a 4K (admittedly with a ported head, 131 (113?) cam and twin 40 dellortos) and the difference was phenomenal
  7. Was as anyone on here out there with a camera at ROM? Or know of someone? I would love to see what you guys got (our service crew didn't take any)
  8. Hi guys, Had a great weekend! Started of strong and got even faster. As exciting as always, Glen is starting to show some serious pace. 6th on Acheron, and an extraordinary 5th outright down Ben Cairn. We were sideways again off the bitumen too :(. Sitting 6th and 1st VRC at the final service with two A cam seal that popped out at final service (An rare occurence, they normally just leak)and the service crew did a quick fix on it. But the oil kept leaking and after stage 7 we had to retire. We would have been 6th outright and 1st VRC on day 1, but still very happy. Struggled a little on day 2 with the extreme wet, catching a car in stage and a slow flat. Still managed a 6th fastest on Blowhard. Had a blast, got to do Mt Slide (yeah!!!) and came in 7th outright for the day (and 1st VRC). Had a ton of fun, and had everyone talking by the end of the weekend - noone expected a legacy to ever be punted that hard :) A reminder that if you have any photos and video we would absolutely love to see it, and best gets a team beanie (and I'll throw in the full incar as well) Please emal me at [email protected] or PM so I can get in touch with you Thanks Matt
  9. Hello all, We are competing in the Rally of Melbourne the coming weekend! We are Car 21 – the Bendigo Bank Subaru Liberty RS of Glen Raymond and Matt Raymond. Glen has a very exciting driving style, and this being our home event we are anticipating that he will be putting on a bit of a show. To get an idea of who we are, our team website is www.glenraymond.com For this weekend we are running a small competition. We are looking for any videos etc that you may get of our car over the weekends competition. Best of the weekend gets an exclusive team beanie Come out on the weekend and watch the exciting sideways action that will be on display! Thanks Matt Raymond Co-driver [email protected] Posting up here because I know you guys love your rallying, and the fact Glen is an ex-Corolla pilot (He had a KE30 and TE37 rally cars)
  10. No yellow beast - that is our old corolla with me driving it about 4 years ago. Sold the car at the start of last year to make way for a 2L TE37, and when younger bro outgrew that we upgraded to 4wd turbo We are running a subaru legacy RS now
  11. Thanks - our engine expired on saturday night (in the service park of all places) so we didn't get to do sunday :D But we would have been hosed as we didn't have 5th gear...
  12. Nice shot - happen to get any of us? (as above)
  13. Hi, Just wondering if any of you guys made it to the rally on the weekend? We were there in Car 28 - the white/burgundy Bendigo Bank Liberty Glen used to drive a Corolla (he had two, KE30 and a TE37), but he now drives a Subaru Liberty RS. Was sitting in 9th outright at one stage before the gearstick came out in his hand!!! Anyway, I was wondering did anyone get any photos or videos of our car on the weekend? thanks Matt
  14. THe problem with the K motors is the proximity of the side draught carby to the strut tower. It is a little tight and sometime you are limited space wise (ie can't fit socks and trumpets). That said, fit the best filters you can.
  15. www.glenraymond.com This is the url for the website for our ARC rally team (which opened about 2 weeks ago). I navigate for my younger brother Glen, and we are looking at doing the remaining ARCs for the year (including QLD). While we used to run corollas very successfully (KE30 and TE37), we have now graduated to a Subaru Liberty RS (which incidentally he still drives like it is a corolla :P) The promotional video is worth downloading, it has some cool corolla action in the second half. (The OMG hairpin - everyone else did it with the handbrake. He did it by chucking the car sideways with sheer speed - 30m earlier than anyone else did :S)
