  1. I'm with you trippi. Half the time these guys that call themselves car enthusist shoud just buy a glass cabinet & some die cast copies of there favorite rides. To you guys that think he was talking about every corner will be taken at full tilt, GET OVER yourselves. So your saying none of you have ever gone over the speed limit or used all that suspension that you spend your money on. You don't have to speed to have fun we know this. I understand if its just the fear of police reading every auto forum post to see where the fools will be but they don't. It is not gonads that drives you to stay within the road rules, its commonsense. And does it matter what he drives. I can asure he has had his handfull of performance cars & know how to drive them.
  2. A little vid I took on the drive. I'll take some better vids next time I drive in a couple weeks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=382SJD4VR7U
  3. I took it for its first drive today. I was stoked, the auto felt good, it even spun tyres. It so cool to just push the throttle & let the car do the rest. I still have a couple teething problems to fix but be a great cruiser.
  4. Thanks guys, you are correct carbonboy, It's amasing how often I would get asked what it is & who fitted the engine. I still have the original white in the garage. The first reason I painted it black was the thought of the colour matching of the new bonnet & the 20 year old paint, specially on a large flat surface. And nizrolla , the rolla is running & will be at the show at banyo, not reg'd yet but soon. I have the little fiddly things to get up to scratch.
  5. Yeah it should work fine. I was checking out the fuel line size that is on the rail & its only 6mm id line.
  6. Thanks champ. The exhaust is done for now until rego ( still have a cat to fit ) The 4ac exhaust when cut just before it swaps sides mates upto the headers perfectly. Its so quiet. Still have some plugs & leads to change & set timing & tps. Hopefully tomoro. I want to take for it first drive next week. I'll get to see how it goes with the auto. Looks like it will be at the jap show in 2 weeks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff1EswmjdWI
  7. Not having too much luck champ. Good luck getting it going soon. How did you end doing the fuel system?
  8. A great day in the garage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZZByRNRWWg Still only headers till the end of the week. The stock 4ac exhaust is cut to length & just needs a flange welded on to bolt it to the headers.
  9. Its getting closer. I got the starter motor in today with some spacers so it does not jam on the flex plate. It turned over with out any meshing problems. I painted the headers & will be getting the gasket tomoro so will bolt up for good. Fuel tank is ready to go back in, so as i have the week off & will be working on the car wednesday, I want it started by the end of the week, & reg'd early next month. Fingers crossed as I want it at the jap show next month.
  10. I will be keen as long as I get the AE71 reg'd by then otherwise shoud be able to get a mate to bring in AE86.
  11. Hi there guys, I thought this could be a good option to changeing crossmemebers in the k series cars. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Toyota/Engines/auction-370759507.htm
  12. Great progress mate. If you are needing the fuel line I went to Bunnings & they had a 3m straight piece of 8mm id pipe $11 . I was quite easy to bend & i bought a cheap pipe cutter for $8. GL champ.
  13. Yeah I just used a spare VR4 Galant pump but I think a walbro 195 or 255 will be the same diameter. I removed the fuel sender to visualise the bottom of the pump so it sat on the bottom of the tank. If you ever decide on fitting a surge tank the can be used as a lift pump.
  14. I removed pump today for the final fit up & found the wire to be swollen & starting to split, so I have to order some new wire for in the tank. I was using a silicone insulated wire but must have not been fuel resistant. I will order some teflon insulated wire tomoro, so hopefully on the weekend so be good to put the tank back in. I did take some pics anyway. I got the 8mm id copper pipe from the local plumbing supply shop & got it braised where the std pick up was.
  15. I will have it apart tomoro if your in bris. You could drop for a look or otherwise i try get some pics with good detail of how I did it.
  16. A little more progress on the car. I've fitted a fuel pump inside the tank. I modified the pickup, with a 8mm out line. I mount a VR4 Galant pump to the old pickup line. I mounted the pump so the pre filter sitting flush with the bottom of the tank near the drain plug. I had to run wires from the pump the to top, so I used some studs & the insulators from the battery feed of an alternator. I put 3l of fuel in the tank & turned the pump on. I ran through a reg & gauge & got it to 70psi with no trouble. I don't plan on trowing this car around to savagely as it is going to be my daily driver to get to work & a cruise every now & then. I think this design will work great , if not I will look at a surge later. I will take so pics before the final fit up. Its getting close to start now.
  17. I really like your build champ. I want to something like that to mine. Would like to come around & shot the breeze & check out how you have done things a little closer.

  18. I thought i would play the images I had to see if a little atitude would help the look. Tell what you guys think. I think I will lower as soon as I get it going.
  19. A Little more done today. I mounted the fuse under the front guard. I will have to build a splash tray for it so when it rains it stays dry. I also made the fuel feed line. I found a 3m length of 8mm ID steel pipe at bunnings that just needed some bending to run along the floor pan. It looks very neat under there. I played around with my spare VR4 wheels. I think with some lowered springs & lower profile tyres it should look good.
  20. Some more progress. I fitted the auto cooler & ae86 alloy radiator. Still have to fit an engine cooler, fuel pump & line but hope to get that done today. I also cleaned up the wiring to give the bay a clean look. I hope to crank it over next week, just need the time to finish it off.
  21. Some progress on the car today. I removed the old 4ac block & fitted the 4age. Standard converter for the moment to see how it goes. I will remove the box & get a converter latter in the year after its running. I will start fitting the harness this week hopefully.
  22. Sorry about the late reply. The box is still for sale . I just dropped the price.

    Are you in brisbane.

  23. Hope to be getting the car home tomorro. Got a couple pics of it today. I hope to have the motor bolted in in a couple weeks, then mod the fuel system & find some headers.
  24. Back when I did the conversion, it was not legal to have a turboed 2l in a car of that weight, & liked the idea of an engine that revs like the 4age does. I did think about the 4g63bt & the 4g61bt ( 1.6 turbo from the lancer cyborg ) but room was very tight in the bay & turbo's were very hard to get reg. The 4age crazy was huge for small car transplant.
  25. I live 5 min from the truck stop. Hope you guys don't mind a Mitsu tailing along.
