  1. Tell me what you think. Was on the road up until two months ago but got the itch to modify so she is off the road awaiting a respray and engine rebuild list of mods as follows 1975 AE30 ;p AE92 4age stock for now T50 five speed borg warner diff (welded) AE86 coilovers (new) AE86 JDM brakes rear cage KE reset leaf springs reloaded with extra leafs for stiffness 13x7 spitfire rims running 215 yoko tires pic up in a moment
  2. hey i have Ae86 power steering arms and using ae86 front hubs as for brakes i have that under control 2 pot mazda fc calipers and rotors.( modified to fit of course) as for Lca's you can get adjustable ae86 ones, I guess it's just a matter of taking measurments.
  3. camber tops are readily available through K-mac i have them in my 30 but again the problem is they do not give you much adjustment, this is mainly due to the fact that the top spring seat hits on the inside of the strut tower wall. changing to a coilover set-up should avoid this as coilovers use a narrower spring. Also the downside to K-macs camber tops you are looking at close to $400 for the pair. not really worth it in the long run I agree with re-drilling the holes for the srut tops, just make sure you measure the holes up first. :y:
  4. Ive seen s13 coilovers on a ke70 thats all i know i have thought about the same sort of conversion on my 75 2door rolla but havnt had any luck.
  5. sorry about my last post i ment stub axle on the strut
  6. I'm in the middle of putting Ae86 coilovers into my ke30 but so far the problems i have found are this the sub axle on the Ae86 is 20mm longer then ke30 and Ae71 and also where the strut bolts to the steering arm is different too, I'm thinking about using Ae86 steering arms and Lca's if any one has any in experience with this feel free to share, also i believe i might be able to use the xt130 corona steering arms?
  7. I had a similar problem I own a 1975 Ke30 which had been previously registred, but the lady at the D.O.T said i couldnt get it re-registerd and had to take the vehicle to the police station to get permission to have the car ok-d. I later found out that i didnt need the Australian compliance plate as it never had one from the begining. all vehicles built before 75 i think it was were never stamped with a plate the vin was stamped on the body instead. but as your rolla is 78 my info hasnt helped you any sorry
  8. I only have one thing to say about LPG ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh but thats my opinion. Yes it would appear that the bronze are getting into sneaker tactics to catch people out but i guess there is a lesson in all this if your not doing anything wrong you wont get in trouble but thats not to say there isnt individual cases of being singled out because you are young and drive a modified car. But i guess that's somthing we as the car enthuisist has to deal with, perhaps we all she make it easier on ourselves, I for one am taking it to the racetrack. are you sure you can't buy a nice car and not do anything silly.
  9. I appreciate your advice I think i do need to lighten up a bit i agree we all have a choice cheers :eatlead:
  10. i had my leaf springs reset by a mate who worked for lexus, but i found that the rear wasnt low enough for my liking so i put 2" blocks in and i agree it sufferd from axle tramp but strickly speaking any car with leaves suffers from bad axle tramp so what i did was take a second set of my leaf springs measuerd and shortend the second set and restacked my first set. So instead of having the standard 3 leafs in my 30 i run 6 leafs this has made the cars rear stiffer there for no axle tramp.
  11. What do you meanyou wernt invited per say? were you with a club?
  12. I'm not trying to make excuses for my behavour i no what i do is "wrong" but don't judge me because of it its not like I'm driving down main st and doing a burn out or chucking skids i do try and do the right thing as best i can. at the end of the day no one on this site has never "hooned" thats a terrible word hoon....... i don't like to be classed as a hoon or a street racer I'm just a guy with a passion for driving in all its forms weather it be on track or off its really a pointless discussion, driving fast on streets has been around since cars were invented always trying to make them faster and so fourth has any one stopped to really think about why road rules were created? And beleive me it wasnt just to keep people safe. If you make a modification to your car that makes it safer then why are you fined for it, like a roll cage or improving the cars handling characteristics (not cutting springs) at the end of the day this debate will go on and on and on for a long time to come I'm afraid regardless of what new laws they introduce.
  13. I for one was unaware that lakeside had reopened to the public , I have a good friend who knows mr tetly who owns both QR and lakside and lakeside is by invitation only it's not open to the public sorry. I for one live in Qld and besides Lakeside (which we can't Race, drift on) it's QR and for me thats a 2 hour drive so lets look at it hmmmm 2 hours worth of fuel plus food plus entry fee not cheap then there's the 2 hours back. Or i can drive 20minutes up the road to my local moantain pass and have a run. In saying that I go up there at 11 or 12 at night there's like no cars out and it's safer for me to go a bit faster. Now 1 you can never fully attack the road a roads surface changes all the time so thats always in your mind. 2 I never drive with mates in the car better to injure myself and not my passengers. And 3 it's all about choice i choose to race on the mountain passes thats my choice I'm at fault but I'm no novice when it comes to driving i never go beyond my limits or my cars limits. but its because of my awarness and my respect for the road that i havnt had an accident once you you become ignorant of your own limitations thats when you lose control. Besides where do you think the majority of todays great race drivers started........hmmm on the streets, on there dirt roads.
  14. I'm sorry but the late night mountain roads call is to much for me to ignore, as they always say there is a time and a place but if they took the consideration to build more tracks for as to use the problem with hooning might and i say MIGHT not be so bad, in saying that there is somthing about racing on the mountain passes, i have raced on both track and street and i always come back to the street. The time: late evening The Place: Mountain roads (or anywhere away from suburban areas) Thats my 2cents worth the greatest advice i ever got tought at school was never get caught (WOMEN ARE LIKE TURBOS, ALWAYS WAITING TILL THEY ARE READY)
  15. The rims are 13X7 with 215 tyres you can get them from any mag wheel shop they are a brand called performance and the flares are a one off from a mate in new zealand
  16. cheers thanks for the positive remarks means I'm on the right track
  17. Thanks yeah its got a ae92 4age stock but it has trd lead and iridium plugs also running 10w 40 fully synthetic in her made a huge difference. I call it a AE30 for that reseon but her name is Cam don't know how came up with the name but its hers I'm going to be repainting her in black and modifying some ae86 coilovers to put in her too
  18. Just took some fresh pics nearly finished the flares off, got one more to go and cleaning up front bumper and got some brand new bumper lights 22 bucks each.next up got some coilovers on the way, and not long before she's back on the road.
  19. Ae92 4AGE, running fully synthetic oil, NGK iridium spark plugs and TRD 7mm ignition leads, with a standard T50 Gearbox, Diff is just the Aussie Borgwarner but the center is welded. These pics ar not updated i got the Leads after theses were taken
  21. More pics on the way the wheels are 13x7 with 215 yokohama tyres, the flares are a one off that i got from a guy I knew he got them from new zealand. the back gaurds took a bit of modifying to get them over the top of the tyres, the whole car sits about 100mm.
  22. Just looking for a outside opinion of my Corolla?
  23. out of curiosity why would you not put a 4age in it? is it just for the fact that there is modification envovled or something else?
