  1. I want to hook up a 4age on to the auto (4sp O/D) in my AE82. The starter motor is in the right place, but what about the bell housing, flex plate or anything else. If anyone can give me some good advise it would be much appreciated. Cheers James
  2. Hello all, I'm a bit new to the Corolla-hood and I need some direction. I have a granny spec 1987 AE82 CSX hatch with 4A motor and 4 speed overdrive auto. Awesome little car but, just one thing annoys the hell out of me (only 1!). Carby's. Particularly the carby on my 4A motor. Fithy, unreliable things. I've had it re-built twice, checked again by Toyota and various "experts" to no avail (Oh the BS excuses I've heard  ) I still have a pig of a carby with flat spots, surges and flame outs. I've spent far too much money on things that suck and dribble :laff: , so, I want EFI and only EFI. I thought the 4AGE motor would be the best choice but, can it be hooked up to the 4 speed auto found in my AE82 ?. I know there is a 4 speed auto option in later versions of the 4AGE motor (20 valve AE101 for example), but is that the same auto as found in my early girl ?. What about gear/diff ratios ?. My 4A sits on 2200rpm @ 100km/h in O/Drive. Can a 4AGE cope with the auto's gearing without struggling ?. Can the auto cope with the rev happy nature of the 4AGE without imploding ?. If anyone has done this or has a 4AGE auto I'd love to hear about it. And yes, a manual conversion is out of the question. Thanks a bunch. James
