  1. Hi all. I was hoping to get some help on this. I'm trying to follow the upgrade guide on here https://www.rollaclub.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ke10_Disk_Brake_Conversion There's no info I can find about which KE70 discs to use. Can anyone shed any light on this? Or have measurements from their own KE70 discs they fitted? So far I have KE55 GIRLOCK backing plates & calipers I bought from OZ some years back when on holiday. I'm in NZ Still need to sort KE70 Hubs and Rotors Thought its about time I sort out the KE70 parts for this upgrade I've checked with a wrecker of old Toyota parts, he asked which model KE70, IDK... I've done some checking and there seems to be multiple rotors listed for the KE70. So far I've got 3 numbers that come up from Toyotas own listings. But no specs. 43512-12100 (79-83) 43512-12070 (79-83) 43512-12190 (83-87) Managed to find some info from aftermarket part#s DI-212 (228.4mm OD, 32mm Height, 11.5mm Min, 12.5mm Max) $16euro each https://spareto.com/products/japanparts-brake-disc/di-212 DF1915 (229mm OD, 31.5mm Height, 64mm ID, 11.5mm Min, 12.5mm Max) https://spareto.com/products/trw-brake-disc/df1915 (These 2 might be listed for the 79-83 years) DF7533S (81-88) $52.45+ea Size: 218mm OD, 64mm ID Hole, 11.5mm Min , 12.7mm Max, 30mm Height) and found this listing for KE55 DI-218 (217.6mm OD, 30.3mm Height, 9mm Min, 10mm Max)https://spareto.com/products/japanparts-brake-disc/di-218 Any info would be appreciated! Thanks 🙂
  2. needing KE55 disc backing plates & caliper mount brackets!

  3. Yeah I agree. I'm all about sourcing what ever I need overseas. But not so keen on brake rotors overseas, the shipping wont be pretty. I still like my original plan, try to source KE55 backing plates & caliper mounts in AU & source KE70 hub/rotor & calipers here in NZ. I'll do some hunting. .... if anyone can help with the parts I need!?? Parrot, a fella on here said he has some spares from a KE55, not everything I'm needing but says he has sumitomo brakes left from his KE55 bits & can sell just the backing plates. Ive no clue about the different types other than there are options, would you (or anyone reading..) know if the backing plates are the same for all KE55s with various brake types? If they are & I can safely buy them to gather bits for the conversion, I can get them & continue on the hunt for caliper mount brackets.... Fingers crossed.
  4. just said that they are PBR, built in Australia & very odd ball in NZ. He recommended KE20 brakes or starlet. But I feel what I'm wanting to do (upgrade in the wiki ke10 upgrade), is pretty basic. And gives me 114.3mm pcd which I want. I'm just wanting to use KE55 backing plates & caliper brackets. In saying that, Ive since found out replacement KE70 rotors are discontinued. I had originally thought buying new rotors would be no issue. That and some suppliers have told me the KE70 takes 1 of 3 size rotors, but all NLA. I want a nice simple upgrade like in the wiki guide, but don't want issues with replacement rotors
  5. thanks for the info.... ive been advised in nz to stay away from KE55 stuff. I'm not familiar with it to start but wanted to look at it combine with KE70 for an upgrade. Does anyone know of a similar upgrade thats done with minimal mods, KE10 brake upgrade similar to the wiki KE70/KE55 upgrade? http://www.rollaclub.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ke10_Disk_Brake_Conversion
  6. For a ke10 with disc brakes. Wanting to follow the guide in three wiki link.. but trying to clear up what's what...
  7. Hi guys, so I'm wanting to do the upgrade from this article http://www.rollaclub...rake_Conversion with KE55 / KE70 brakes I have trolled through the forums & read what ever tech articles here I could find & checked the wiki section. But I'm wanting info first hand from those KE55 & KE70 gurus here. Firstly, I'm in NZ & as far as I know the KE55 never came here. So I'm on the hunt for KE70 discs/calipers in nz atm - the wiki article says the KE55 &KE70 take the same brakes but have different backing plates & caliper mount brackets. So I'm trying to source rotors/hubs + calipers here in NZ (shipping from AU would be a killer with the weight) But after KE55 backing plates & caliper brackets, likely from Aussie - i have posted a WTB post. from research ive found, NZ listings say the KE70 has 3 size options on Brake Rotors. And someone has said that the KE55 can come with 2 options of brake set up, Girling or Sumitomo? can anyone clear this up for me or offer some info / advice? tbh I don't know a heap about these later model corollas..... I'm wanting to get all my ducks in a row before I buy any bits...
  8. GTNICKK, those KE55 brakes bits, don't throw themover ya shoulder just yet! If you're wanting to change your brakes.... I'd be interested in your KE55 Caliper Mounting Brackets & Backing plates
  9. wow, nice effort! Id have thought it would be pretty hard to do. Any pics of the completed job?
  10. ke55 brakes bits on my mind....

  11. parts, i need so many parts! lol

  12. thankms guys for the info so far. the brakes are fine now, they had new shoes about 6mths ago. New cylinders 2 weeks ago now. the right hand brake cable lever in the drum was onstantly seasing up, causing some of the issues in my WOF. since that the lever has been sorted & as mentioned, cylinders replaced & brake system bleed, have a decent hard pedal. only 1 side of the drum brakes was working before & those need replacing soonish. ive got 2 cars & loads of room to the work, i don't mind changing the master cylinder, bias etc if need be. I had thought of seeing if front ke10 disc sets could be modified with plates etc to fit on the rear. or another KE models front brakes. Some guys i know have done simular things, but as i mentioned, with nissan bits, easy to come by & cheap to buy. I will check out that ke10 for sale, thanks for that KeRoLLin!!! cars been off the road, been stuck in doing the clutch on the rolla, full service & lube too. dam the diff oil was bad! anyway, thanks heaps for the info guys, always to good to hear from everyone.
  13. i take it no ones done this then. Ive just replaced the wheel cylinders etc - got my wof so all sweet. I'm just sick of drum brakes on the back, they are a pain in the ass, I want disc rear, that simple really. I think ive found some out some info on this anyway now, but wanted to know if anyone had done this at all. Prob just a case of removing the drum assembly's & getting something made up so discs can go on, I know people that have done it using nissan gear. if anyone has done this kinda of Mod, be keen to hear from ya
  14. hey guys, has anyone done a brake upgrade on a KE10 first things first, my we rolla is stock std & I do want to keep it that way. the last 2 Warrant of Fitness checks ive come up with issues with the handbrake/rear brakes - right side mostly. just went for a new WOF check today, it runs out this week so need to make sure shes legal asap. I have that under control but want a long term solution. I am stick to death of the car always being picked up on rear braking issues when I go for my 6mthly wof. You guys call it something dif in aussie i think. anyway, I want to keep the car std as, the only thing I want to do is upgrade the rear brakes to disc if possible, disc brakes would be great & get rid of the constant drum brake issues I'm having. Looking at drum set up, I figure the easiest way may well be to chuck a complete diff set up in & get the drive shaft yolks modified up to the factory ones. Or i could be totally wrong, i havent done a rear upgrade myself! OR is there a rear disc upgrade thats able to be done? has anyone done anything like this?? I'm thinking maybe something like RWD Starlet might fit, they are small & narrow, havent looked into it properly, just thought id post here & see whats what from you in the know......? or the earliest corolla that came out with rear disc. I guess there may well be axle/diff shortening involved, but if i could get away without all that, would be great. wishful thinking or if i just go for disc upgrade alone, something in the corolla/celica side of things. I do want to keen the same stud patturn & std wheels - like i said, this is an upgrade purely to get rid of my drum problems, not for performance at all! info guys???
  15. appreciate both your replies guys - big help the long part # on the box is thew same @ as I have listed in my factory KE11 parts book. What prices did these go for if you don't mind saying? curious what they will cost on average if i can find some.
  16. hey guys, ive been off the site for ages but back again! got a new warrant of fitness so the ke10 is legal again, wasnt for 3mths lol. it passed with flying colours - just a muffler that I knew about already & got replaced that night. anyway, they had noted down for 'next time' that i should look at replacing the Front lower arm bushes, 1 is cracked through. this is NOT a simple quick job to do & parts are a bit on the hard side to get! Ive found some random site that does 1 part # I'm after. but wanted to see if anyone else had replaced these bushes, did you get new ones, get some made up or opted to upgrade the suspension or do mods?? curious - can't find any info on this in the tech section cheers in advance guys!
  17. ive found nice classic car ones on ebay, with metal clasp - to suit the old corollas ones i found were available in dif colours too def worth a look - reasonable prices too.
  18. i should have also added that ive bought mags for my ke10 also. they are 15" RS5's - FWD offset - I'm real fussy with mags & these are all i could find that I really liked & found a overrated 2nd hand set at a price i couldnt turn down so just bought them! 15" 6.5"wide 5 stud 5 x 100 / 5 x 114.3 38mm offset so will have more room behind these wheels for the brake upgrade. i think i have alot of to look into - suspension upgrade - away with the front leaf , put in a sway bar kit from White line. change the struts - change the brake system & get the FWD wheels onto too!
  19. hey guys/girls I'm another rolla club girl.....
  20. hi guys, new to this site. have had a little look around & its pretty good! some pretty helpful stuff. have noted the info on the ke30 etc strut tops for lowering, but I was after any help/info on what brake upgrades anyone has ACTUALLY done - with SUCCESS. I wanted to get rid of the front transverse leaf spring, tension up the front with some decent suspension ive heard high recommendations of the white line sway bar kits & likes - can be used with removing the leaf spring. sounds like a great start. what strut conversions has anyone gone with? I'm wanting to upgrade the brakes also - would be ideal to have something that goes onto the struts but not priority I would rather upgrade the brakes to something a little bigger than ke20-ke30 etc ive heard of some using rx7 brakes? - if so what master cylinder set up was used for the system? basically I'm wanting your ideas - what have you does to upgrade your brakes & suspension & has worked out well, great handling & braking.
