  1. what about just flipping a single, not two springs? is that going to lower it, but not as much?
  2. MUMBLEZZZ said it as a joke and we did one then put it on and were like ahh shit now we 7more to do because it looks so good! LOL
  3. hmmm i like mine actually 15 x 9 - 5 offset..... =)
  4. point taken fook, and i agree there are a large number of hangers on that generally bring the opinion of the sport down, and yes, it comes from the fact its a cheap sport, so anyone can have a go. agreed. maybe you will like the cage in my next shell fook, as it will be somewhat more substantial....... as previously stated at mount cotton i believe, the current cage was installed more as chassis bracing than to provide real roll over protection, but it WAS based on something that started life as a real half cage. the thing that bewilders me is that several of the japanese bolt in brand of roll cages, (which is what mine started out as) carry fia rally approval, but do not pass CAMS rules, seems very strange to me... anyhow, differant strokes for differant folks.......
  5. as previously stated, theres so much anger here, i think it may just be jealousy... how does knowing the judges help win, surely a rigged competition would favour the person who pays the most money ect, gets the best publicity??? correct? if this is so how did leighton at the recent Drift australia round beat several $200,000 mega buck cars in a $10,000 carolla? I'm sure he just slipped them a bribe under the table....... :D get over it people, whatever you think it here and you're just gonna have to deal with it,, :angrybird:
  6. yep same car, built from scratch by me in the shed, now competes in Drift Australia series, as well as various state level DRIFT competitions. Gotta say love the site, but theres way to much anti drift sentiment here, so i'm gonna stir the porridge... LOL
  7. must be the fact we are getting interset from corporate sponsors offering us cash for our fun, in such a short time frame, but club rally gains not as much interest - controversy.... i LOVE rally driving, simple fact is , i can't afford to be competative at the level i am now in drifting, so i drift instead.... and if you speak to any of my friends, my FAVOURITE past timeis a fast grip run through andy *track* or mountain road, but for sheer grin factor and fun, its the best..
  8. ok bought stock ae86 and one week later had 150 bux worth of wreckers suspension in and funningbegins... two weeks later in goes jap 86kw 4age ina t series diff with trd lsd for this result... $1500 funbox..... then a loss of license made me do this... so now it looks like this.... now its a fun enjoyable relaible car that goes everywhere......
  9. Josh totally thrashed and modded ae86 (fun car) totally stock '86 cetury (tow and cruise car) Gold Coast drive-drift wherever there is track time.. my shitbox..... :D :angrybird:
  10. ok this kind of debate always has several sides to it, so i'll throw in my 2c....... i drift as a MOTORSPORT because its one of the few forms or racing where budget is not the deciding factor in who wins. Simple. I enter my pink ae86 in national level competitions around the place,( currently equal first in NSW state series and 6th in Drift Australia series), and do it all around my ful;l time job. its fun... but if you try and tell me that there is less skill in getting between 2 corners sideways that there is in a straight line, you are kidding yourself. I'm not saying its harded, its just not as simple as you may seem to think it is. I have several other kinds of motorsport as well, i regularly do the gatton street sprints in QLD, but for pure fun factor, i prefer to do drifting. while at a recent Oran park practice day in sydney, i had a member of a well known toyota club approach me after seeeing my drifting, and he said i should be driving a rally car, as i had exceptional car control, but simple fact is, i can gain way more exposure and sponsorship by drifting than i could by driving rally, and all at a much lower cost than rallying. Could you honestly be tottally competative at the TOP level of national rallying in a sub $20,000 car, as mine is? i think not. Yes the sport is being comecialised, but that just means that those of us that want to take it seriosly, will in the space of 12 months, be able to comnpete and do it as A FULL TIME JOB, in the sports second year of national competition.... tell me I'm crazy, but if thats not a cool thing to do, then fine, keep working your day jobs.... Me, i'm putting all efforts into this and from all indications, its paying off much faster than anybody could have expected 12 months ago... #end rant.
