  1. here on the east coast of the US older imports are very rare TBH I've seen only 1 other 70's-80's corolla here and the wreckers don't keep older stuff, they just crush them and send them to the shredder. I miss the west coast out there they have an abundance of imports. they salt the roads out here if it gets below 4c and cars rust to oblivion.... it sucks. I haven't totally commited to selling this yet but I'm getting closer every time I compare the 3k to the Datsun A12. I like the look of the car but without some serious power infusion I'll be looking at taillights in the class I race. a 3tc would be nice but unfortunately quite difficult to locate on this side of the country. I'd like to think the 3k would perk up like the Datsun but from what I'm reading here it's not going to happen. BTW.... the class I'm trying to run in is a prepared class where the stock style block is retained and the car must resemble what it is. Forced induction is not allowed. I'd be running against a 1875cc VW bug with twin IDA's (about 96kw) or a Festiva (mazda 121) with similar power both are stripped to the tub and running big slick tires.
  2. OK I'm gonna sell it's a low milage car but being a 3k in the US means the 4k is a non option I'll sell and go for something more tunable
  3. from my days building Datsuns I ran into a set of numbers for tri-Y extractors primary = 18-24" secondaries = 24-36" I always went with the shorter end of the scale because I needed a bit more top end than bottom. I always used 1 3/8" primaries and 1 3/4 secondaries with a 2 1/4 collector
  4. Will a better carb and exhaust wake this engine up or should I go ahead and sell the car to find something with a more tunable engine? I have a Datsun 1600 carb to install and a 2" exhaust is in the works. I want to know if I'm wasting my time...
  5. this is how I found the poor thing here is the 1200cc powerhouse since these were taken the car is out of the weeds. I have test fitted some 13x7 wheels and they will clear nicely. Ebay has graciously provided new brakes (ouch my wallet hurts) I have a nice Hyundai rear spoiler (re-commissioned as an airdam) thanks to U-pull-it (although I may go a different way). A friend is donating various Ford parts to make the car turn (cough swaybar cough). I think I have found some slicks for it on E-bay so it'll stick too. Budget wise on my $500 self imposed limit I will have enough left to either paint it or buy a racing seat (read used MX-5 seat). I'll continue to post in this thread as this progresses.
  6. for now I'm sticking with a single carb since my race budget has been blown on suspension
  7. Here in the US there are no manifolds available for Webers for this engine so anything I did would have to be fabricated. On top of that Bike Carbs are cable linkage and usually share one throttle shaft. The manifold would not be too hard measure three times cut once. As a metal fabricator I've built many manifolds. I have 20 or so years experience building and tuning race cars so experience is not an issue.
  8. it was in a Vauxhall :D
  9. quick update it's out of the weeds and brake parts are coming so she'll stop. I have slicks coming so it'll turn. A Ford Sierra turbo front bar will be modified for this (yay free bar). Rear leafs will have the middle leaf flipped and an additional leaf added. Right now I'm real close to my budget cap and I still need a seat grrrrr. I hope I can sell some parts to recoup some budget for paint and a seat.
  10. the bummer was 1.5 hours on the road to answer it grrrrr
  11. 70 miles later I have the measurements OD 73mm ID 60.1mm
  12. I have a ke30 I was given some steel 13x7 wheels for it but they are universal fit I need the hub dimension so I can make or buy hub centric rings to center these wheels
  13. This I hope will tell the story of an unloved KE30 who rises from the weeds to become a successful track-day car. As the title reads the budget is just $500usd so there won't be any big boost turbo twincam swaps. I plan to use this car for solo racing so high HP is not that important. I found this little car languishing in disrepair under a sticker bush. Fiddling with the carby I managed to get her moving and away from the bush. Surprisingly there was little rot but plenty of surface rust and the frame rails were solid. Anyway the pics. This is how I found her (try not to cry) the air cleaner was on the pass floor. I will post more pics as she progresses
  14. I live in the US and twin carbs are not available here so I'm looking at a set of yamaha 1100 carbs. I wonder if anyone has tried this on a stock 3k. I know the mani will have to be cut up to adapt to the M/C carby's
  15. It is indeed a 32/36 and the proper adapter I hope it proves a worthy carby for my needs.
  16. once again I'm a dope and a nice weber is on the way.
  17. I am looking for a carby for my 3K KE30. I have a Datsun A series carb available but I don't know what the Toyota bolt pattern is the Datsun carby has a pattern 38.1mmX63.5mm. If possible could somebody measure the bolt pattern on a K intake. I would run out and measure but I'm about 30 miles away from the car so I would have to set time aside for a trip.
  18. I am not sure how the clutch works I'm still figuring that one out. I'm also trying to find a 5 speed yeesh toyota only used the cable setup in this car it seems.
  19. been thinking about a weber for this I hope it responds like the Datsun 1200 does. I could use about 75-80 hp
  20. here it is in all it's overgrown glory. the frame rails looked solid and the rust in the photos isn't through the metal but rather on it here is the 1200cc powerhouse I managed to get it running today I have a question this car has electronic ignition and a dual outlet exhaust manifold are these things significant.
  21. I'll post pics as soon as I dig it out I might even get it to move under it's own power.
  22. I feel a boob I found the search just after I posted
  23. I have just came into posession of a ke30 powered by a 3k engine. I am planning to use the car for slalom racing and I need help with what will fit this car. I am looking for front strut interchange brake upgrades and what differentials interchange. Any help will be greatly appreciated. BTW the car is located in the United states so the engine sucks more than ever. sorry if this is in the wrong section
