Awesome conversion! i did something similar just finishing it off this week. 2tgeu/3t hybrid into a ke20. ill post a build thread up soon, might have some handy info for ya.

Yeah we used the original engine mounts cut em out and just re welded them.. talk about a tight fit.. the carbies miss the brake master by 5mm and the water pump misses the radiator by 5mm.. used original tailshaft.. the ke20 engine bay is smaller than the ke30 one. i didnt have to cut a hole in the floor for mine... its just a tad forward. i need to change the slave cylinder on mine as the pedal is so heavy.. but yeah other than that it went in really well and looks overrated with the engine bay freshly painted. ill put a build thread up soon

Hi guys, I'm in the middle of doing an engine conversion in my KE20, I'm putting in a 2TGEU with a 3T bottom end. I've got the engine sitting in the car but I've ran into a problem where the brake master cylinder is too long and is in the way of the twin carbies. Does anyone know of any shorter brake master cylinders I can use? Maybe Datsun? Cheers, Ben

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I'm chasing some more information on the brake/clearance issue. I have twin side draughts on my 2tgeu, I'm just test fitting it now and I'm wondering if theres another brake master cylinder i can use that is hard up against the firewall? or any alternative options. I don't want to use a brake booster at this time.

Is it illegal to run it without a sway bar ( only temporary) ? Ive got the engine sitting in the bay just test fitting it. Its got twin Dellorto carbs and the corner of one of the air cleaners has been pushed in a bit to clear the brake master on the previous car it was in (ke30). I have angled the mounts from about 58 Degrees which the 4k was at, to 50. So now I'm thinking of getting it in, bolting the gearbox cross member in and marking how far forward the engine mounts have to be moved. Take it out change the mounts put it in there. get it all going and then get a sway bar done in a few weeks. Is this the right way to go about it? Have clearance issues with the brake master, wondering if anyone knows of a master that is not so far out from the firewall

ok the 4k is sputtering oil out of the exhaust pipe... so i think i will definately go the 2tgeu. just for the record its a 3t with a 2t head. so I'm guessing it has a bit more power over the standard one. I have my work doing the engine and gearbox mounts. they are all engineers and have a car hoist. i need to know what to do about the tailshaft and diff. will i have to get a custom tailshaft made up? thanks in advance.

Keeping the engine standard for now unless i could pick up a cheap set of extractors and cam's.. I think ill just get a 2'' straight through with 1 muffler, my guess is it should give it an ok note. but not a drone. thanks for the help.

Yeah the current exhaust need's to go. its rattly and has holes everywhere. what is a good diameter for a 4k. don't want it too loud.. just right =) i was thinking around 2 inches.

got her back.. just needs a new exhaust and it will be an awesome driver! engine runs so so smooth.. pics will be up soon =)

A few updates on her.. Took it to the mechanics to pass roadworthy.. it had an a4 sheet of paper full of things wrong :bash: I just told them to fix it all.. "waves goodbye to all my money" So yeah shes got brand new front rotors and pads, Both uni joints were flogged out so much that it was hardly drivable.. exhaust bracket was scoring a deep line into the tail-shaft.. the list went on. can't wait to pick it up tomorrow!!! I'm really considering going 20v 4age instead of the 2tg. The conversion doesn't look too difficult. better economy and quad throttle bodies + trumpets sound overrated on them. I'll try not to get too carried away though.. after all it was supposed to be a little run about daily driver.( My girlriend thinks) :wink:

The guy is in sydney for a week >_< Called him today.. apparently he's got a 20v that he also wants to sell ^___^ But yeah we'll see what happens, really wouldnt mind doing it up like a te27.. even though its a 20

Ah ill go back to him and get as much info on it as i can, ( ill take detailed photos) . I just figured since it was in a ke30 coupe it would fit in the ke20 no troubles.. but seems that the 20 is alot smaller... yes its a manual and would like to keep it that way with the celica 5 speed. ( hopefully >_< ) Also with the brake side of things my 20 has disk brake front end. hoping that wont complicate things. From what i heard its a 3T bottom end with a 2T top end. having been rebuilt only 2000 kilometers ago i jumped on the chance to buy it. He's holding it for me to make my mind up. I have some but limited fabrication experience.. And Lou since you have already done this before any chance i could slip you a carton to come down and give us a hand with it one weekend? I'm located Gold coast northside. Thanks for all the info guys. I'm that much closer to knowing how to go about it. its going to look alot better after the respray. anyone got any info on 2tgeu conversions? anything will do i know they can go in.

First off ill let you guys know its already in a ke30 2 door. I'm wondering if it will be much harder to convert it into my ke20.. its got a 4k atm..The motor comes with the celica box. Ive got a crook diff so it will be going and i would need to know what be best to replace it. any info on engine mounts, wiring, clearance problems etc? has a write up been done on this before? But yeah just bought the 20 with a 4k and she runs nice but i can get a good deal on my mates 2t. its twin side draft. =)

Hey bought this car today had a set of works and hoshino's lying around.. look pretty nice under the guards i reckon. don't worry ill take care of it ben.. =) Going to be using it as a daily for now... Plans. 2t-geu lined up and 5sp celica gearbox =) 2pac orange respray make it overrated Love this car already! Would love feedback. Page 8 for ke25

For sale is my SJ413 stockman ute. with plenty of extras. including spare engines, doors, windows, bonnets, boxes of carby bits and more. now for the car. 2 inch OME suspension lift. ( maximum legal in QLD ) 31 inch mud tires having only done around 2000k's on road. so almost brand new. tray back cover. makes it handy for when you pick up chicks =P haha jokes. replaced all brake parts 3 months ago. stops well. looking to swap for an early corolla in driving condition. pick of the bunch would be a ke15. otherwise $5000 ono
