there are no stupid questions yep its hooked up its only conected to the rear inlet manifold pipe (# 4 cyl) when valves are shut and cylinder is combusting air will build up pressure in manifold runner pipe then valve opens and pressure drops would this affect the psi ? ive got a feeling that the 2nd gasket i blew was because i ran over a stick and boost/vac come of (maybe) i dident get any other paperwork with msd unit other than the above download and a 1 page addendum for the btm model steps 12&3 mounting step 4 conect 1/8 tube to msd spigot and route to a port on intake manifold cheers

has anyone had anything to do with msd 6 btm ignitions I'm having trouble with my blown 4k blowing head gaskets thanks

msd has a dial witch provides variable timing retard in relation to the amount of boost occering ranges from 0deg to 3 deg per pound of boost eg knob at 2deg times max boost 6 pounds boost = 12 deg ill try to scan a copy or i got a manual via msd wedsite

re dizzy its either vac or adv not sure witch one it has 2 vac tank/hoses coming from it (2stage retard?????)

thanks guys $55 grapite ? gasket from autobarn couldent get genuine one in time will get one next time timing was about 22 deg at idle what is base timing ? the vacum retard/advance hoses on the dizzyare blocked i think the msd unit (msd 6 btm) should retard /advance the spark itself (don't quote me) the msd has a 1/8 vacum hose from it to the manifold at the monemt ive got vac hose on the rear inlet pipeof the manifold (its not providing vacum regular) i think i should have it on main blower pipe? should i get the dizzy locked some1 told me this idont understand it much apreciate it :)

finally got some pics up just blown the 3rd head gasket having trouble with the timing it seems to be advancing 8-10deg over 3000 rpm i think the msd unit should retard it it mite be time to find an expert ($$$ permiting)

got new ed gasket fitted extractors are on tuned up going great responsive on the throttle sounds sweet pics/vid soon

thanks guys the gasket had the closed holes pushed open duno if that means anything ill try to get a good monotorque gasket today

hope gasket was faulty mite have had air lock in it i did notice gasket dident have all holes for water to flow through opened up got any sugestions? ran enjin for 1 hour nateraly asperated

finally got it all back together charger msd eletric diz are all on gave it a run in the paddock goes great bit slow of the line hope its the timing or flat spot in carby but ive done a head gasket i think hope like hell its not a cracked head go to town tomorrow for extractors,head gasket and a few small fittings gee i hope i havent done a head on the up side the msd unit is good highly recomended f@$k i got a zap from it the motor sounds crisp can't wait for sunday 16 may not long to go now

trying to order a 4k starter supplier can only find 3k 1200cc are they they the same thing?

finally got it all assembled ready to give rebuilt motor a run in havent got charger on at moment plan on giving motor1-2 hours run in nateraly asperated to help bed rings etc now i just need msd 6btm (tomorrow i hope) extractors startermotor plugs and leads :bash:

first one mentioned has multi spark (inbuilt spark control) and rev limiter second one is just timing retard no spark unit so for extra 2-300 i can get spark unit and timing retard in one unit cheers for the advice

thank taz get one for 700 not cheap but good spark =performance i hope I'm running out of time so it an easy option

getting it back together slowy having issues with retarding the timing gunna have to buy a msd 6btm i think hopefuly it will sort out my problems more soon

does any one know if a msd 7al unit has a built in retarder
