  2. thanks, sorry, yeah, its at first at top dead centre
  3. Ok so iv been working on my rolla for nearly a year now, and we are finally getting to the business end of the whole deal (its been really slow cos of work and other commitments) and now it wont start. It has spark, its trying really bloody hard to start, but it just wont quite. We have been using "start-ya-bastard" on it, and it turns over, kind of coughs once or twice, then nothing more. Last night we tried gravity feeding the carby, and it did the same thing, so we assume its been getting petrol. Please, any ideas of things to try or even someone who can tell me the fix, it would be much appreciated.
  4. wow, tonnes impressed right now. Am thinking bout the same conversion myself. So lemme get this right, ur doin all the brakin and suspension stuff to deal with the bigger power etc, so if i didnt do all this stuff, the conversion would still work, it would just be a death trap right??
  5. OMG that dash, beautiful, iv been thru so many broken ones now i was begining to think there werent any nice ones left in the world. I'm thinking I'm gonna hav to get mine reconditioned. but i hav a friend with a 55, perfect dash, rest of the car is a bit off and on, lookin at pickin it up from her when she gets sick of it
  6. Iv never done one, and havent looked at the figures, so the best i can offer you is hearsay. apparently, they fit fairly bloody well, and go off tap if you want them to. but if you have a RWD celica, why would you do anything to it, unless it is 1980 to 1985, in which case they look like crap, and totally drop it in. but like i said, sadly all hearsay. sorry man. lemme know which way you go, I'm lookin for different engines for my KE55 as well
  7. Name: Mine or the cars?? lol mines michael, havent thought thru the car yet Car: 1981 KE55 four door sedan Motor & Driveline: stock 4K-C for now... everything else stock as it comes, slowly working thru it Suspension & Brakes: at the mo, stock, gonna do the shocks shortly tho Wheels & Tyres: mismatched. but fairly boring Interior: Much more fun. Have redone the carpet in black, looks good, pilfered 3 different dashes and made one whole one out of it, which is also slowly getting changed. Red vinyl seats from a 1976 KE that have been tricky to get in, tho after rego will be going some racing seats. Body: at the moment, a boring silly cream color, which i think is the original job, but at the moment large patches of the pinkish grey bog i used on her, so will soon be goin gorgeous black with a red racing stripe, to match the interior. Other: Got the car for free. paid 400 for a donor. couple of hundred for tools and other bits you can't get from a donor. end result is an almost complete car for less than a couple of grand. Building my own interior for the boot, so it will be a box, with the sides walled off but accessible thru little doors. Then carpet the walls so it looks nice and tidy.
  8. Hey all, doing up a KE55 at the moment, and loving every minute of it, but want some more oomph. at the moment, am just getting it on the road, but I have decided the measly 1.3 just has to go. so anybody got any workable and reasonably easy suggestions that wont cost me every dime iv ever earnt?? also, needs to be road legal, as i only have the one car. I'm in the ACT, so they are usually reasonably lenient. Thanks
