styler Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 (edited) just want to know how to fit a 2tg into a ae71. whats needed? and if the 2tg is a hard engine to get your hands on? and what modle cars it came out of? every where i have looked there have been pics but no how to. :) well first of all you would be better off doing a 4ag conversion in an ae71 for a few good reasons. 2tg's are still around in whole engines and parts but you have to look around to find one, they came out in a few cars. in australia they are mainly from the ta22 celica's as far as i know. as for fitting one, how long is a piece of string? do you have a ae71 and a 2tg motor already or avaliable by purchase to convert? how mechanically skilled are you? do you have all the tools / equipment to do a conversion? have you done an engine conversion before? can you get all the conversion parts? are you familiar with ae71's or 2tg's? are you going efi or single carb or twin sidedrafts? can you get a few mechanical minded people to help you? if you pass all these questions adequately then I'm sure someoone can write you up an informative reply on how to do it. hendo Posted October 25, 2006 Author Report Posted October 25, 2006 well i know nothin about toyotas at all i am a mitsubishi boy but i am buildin a drift car on a budget. i realy just want a carbie engine as i can't realy be bothered with efi as i don't want to have to screw around with computer tuning. i have all the tools i can lay my hands on (part time speedway mechanic) and no i have never done any form of engine conversion. can you tell me of a good carbie engine or would it be posible to convert a 4age 16v into carbie with som custom manifold work and stuff? slapper Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 4AG With twin 40mm webers FTW :) from: redline manifolds PART NO. 12-22 Toyota Twin Cam Engine 100KW 1600 4AGE Single port. Manifold designed to accept 2 x 45DCOE Weber Carburettors. LINKAGE KIT P/NO.42-2500 so yeah ... it's possible! you may run into problems with fitting trumpet and/or filters though ... the engine bay will prolly be a little cramped. Slapper Quote
ke30king Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 a t18 x-member bolts into an ae71. so then you can use the t18 engine mounts on the 2tg and it should slide straight in. might have to cut a new shifter hole. and i don't know how the wiring is on a 4a but you would most likely have to modify the loom in spots. cheers, lloyd Quote
hendo Posted December 16, 2006 Author Report Posted December 16, 2006 ended up getin a 4age for 250 with loom and ecu so now i need to get to work Quote
