GZE82 Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Off the road again! Hrmmm, my car god has struck me... he must have been busy with stu before! The engine has devoloped a rather intersting top end noise... so until its sorted its living in the garage! The problem there is its my daily driver! Ahh well. The good news is that in the time its was running it was great, I didnt even give it a great stretch... well, nothing over 6000rpm anyway, but when shifting hard into 3rd at the rpm it chirps the tyres! So appart from the setback I'm pretty happy. Hopefully it will be up and running again sometime soon so I can have some fun. Jarrad bad news mate, I'm sure u will sus it out though Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted December 2, 2006 Author Report Posted December 2, 2006 hahaha, sussed out! The short answer to the problem is that I'm a dick... and didnt recheck all the bolts on the engine. Yes, it was coming from the exhaust cam above number one... because the bloody timing gear had worked its way loose!!! As mrmoparman said I'm bloody lucky it didnt fall off, my 4age is now an interferance engine after the swap so if the cam gear had come off it would have made a right mess. Lesson to be learnt... double check everything! And when it still makes stupid noises check it all again! Now its time to go Commodore hunting! hehe... Quote

I just picked up my new rear lights for the Rolla (thanks gze82!), they look sweet as but the photos don't do them justice! Heres the before and after... Before: After: Just cleanes the rolla's rear up nicely! Another update (although a fair bit delayed) is my new front bar... again off gze82s rolla (thanks mate). Makes it look like a nice car again! My cast headers cracked on the number 4 runner! So now she sounds like a truck! I have been busy trying to get a set of headers to fix it but hadnt had much luck, thanks to gze82 for his help as well... I busted his balls about a manifold but ended up not needing it. Sorry for that mate. I was searching through the classifieds on the net today and found a set of Genie Headers for sale... on the phone and bought! They are getting sent Monday morning so I should get them through the week! Yay! can't wait to get them on! Anyway, thats the update for now. Jarrad Quote

TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 (edited) Picked up a few more goodies on the weekend... New rear Bar Set of Lovely 12 month old Headlights and parkers! They look sweet as! And I also got a set of trims for the door tops and rain channel... also picked up a new windscreen plenum cover. I painted the door tops while I was at it. All in all it was a productive weekend! can't wait for the extractors! Thanks to gze82 for all of the parts, top bloke if you ever get to meet him! TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 22, 2007 Author Report Posted January 22, 2007 Well, its been a while since my last update... so here goes the new problems! For some reason the car is going so hard at the moment, I havent changed anything at all (except giving it a really nice polish!) but the car just hammers! The induction noise is louder than the exhaust note when you give it shit and it spins through most of first gear... On the down side it is making a noise that sounds like detonation, also my no 1 injector has split a seal, so that is getting fixed this week (putting a kit through them all). Another rather large problem is the timing belt... Yep, its farked. See pic... Not sure how this happened but I'm lucky to have noticed it this arvo, I'm taking the car on the GOR trip this weekend and didnt want a timing belt to go then. My engine is an interferance engine now as well so it would have made a bloody big mess, so I have to fix theis before Saturday and have everything sorted. Well, thats it for now, will be heading to the drags at Calder for a run in a couple of weeks (if the car is still running) so I will post up some timecards! Also, heading to a dyno day next month, so power figures for the new engine will be up as well. Cheers, Jarrad Quote
